I hadn't seen any discussion or notification about this, and seeing as how I have brought it to peoples' attention since yesterday, I figured I'd go ahead and make a semi-official statement here.

I'm not quite sure when this was implemented, but a user over the Avatar Store [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Avatar-Store-New-and-Second-Hand] informed everybody there that the default size for Escapist avatars has been increased for both regular and Pub-Club members! This may have been an aspect of the new website design, or it may not, but some people haven't heard, so think of this thread as a PSA of sorts.

The new regular Escapist member's avatar size limit is 85 x 85 pixels, while the new Pub-Club member size limit is 115 x 115 pixels.

So, if you feel so inclined, head on over to that aforementioned Avatar Store and get your avatar updated if you don't know how to do so yourself. Everybody loves bigger avatars! :D

Hmm, maybe it's time I change the ol'... Black Mesa logo (I wanted to say girl but I don't know if the logo has a gender).

Isn't this a bit... phallic?
I paid money and my avatar is bigger than YOUR avatar!

It's nothing like that, honest!

I just wanted to spread the word that this change happened, nothing more.

haha I didn't mean yourself in particular; I just meant that pub club members have the ability to enlarge their avatars, in general, seems like a hilarious innuendo the escapist implemented :p

How do you you do it yourself, if you don't mind me asking?

I suppose I could have worded that a bit better. Apologies.

I was referring to an image editing program such as Photoshop or GIMP (the latter of which is free) to take the original avatar image and rescale/crop/what-have-you it to the new sizes of either 85 x 85 or 115 x 115, depending on one's subscription status.

Oh okay, thanks.

I might try fiddling with it.

Your avatar's not square, so make sure that the longer dimension (in your case, the image height) is the maximum number of pixels allowed (in your case, 85)
The other dimension will size itself accordingly.
Yeah, I was screwing around the Photobucket editor and the image got a bit squished.

New avatar limits means new avatar for me!

Taco Stark seems to be a good match.

I'm just curious, why exactly DID they increase the size limit?
