And on a side note, if you tell Dogmeat to go to Vault 101, does he leave for ever?
No, but it takes a day or two for him to get to the Vault. Weird, isn't it, to get all anxious about the fate of an imaginary dog... but that long, long wait for Dogmeat's return did almost get me to hand-wringing (and a preemtive return to an earlier save) before he finally got back.

Im sure there will be other quests as well, but I really dont hold much hope of there being enough to fill another 10 levels. Especially if they have upped the XP needed.

Also I would have thought seen as they have already broken the 1250 cap that they would have had achivements for the sub quests like with the main game, its a nice tally for what you have missed if noting else.
On my first run through the game, I managed to explore a bit, do some achievement quests, and finish up the main storyline JUST after I hit the level cap. I estimate that I hit the cap when I had seen/completed maybe 50% of the game content.

Maybe I'm just inefficient, but it seems to me that you could raise the level cap to 30 and get there pretty easily just by completionist-ing the original wasteland.
On all three of my Fallout 3 Characters I was able to get to level 20 doing only the side quests, a run through Evergreen Mills and The Talon Company Base Camp, and the main quest up to, but not actually doing, The Waters of Life. That was with minimal exploration and very few trips into the D.C. Ruins, so i'd say that yes, it is entirely possible to hit 30 without even playing any of the Broken steel Content.

My major worry is that after level 20 everyone is going to be running around the Capital wasteland with Grim Reaper's Sprint + Solar Powered/Ninja and be able to clear out even the Deathclaw sanctuary with ease.

If it dose not involve a ton of fixes and polish I am not interested.... but damn this DLC is making it hard to ignore >>

edit
I still will ignore the damn thing until they do a weapon/equipment modding setup like enchantment on Morrwind(only not as OTT).... gaaa the basic weapons/equipment make the game bland after 10 hours and the hidden weapons just don't cut it....

I bought OA and regretted it, I didn't buy the Pitt. I am 100% going to buy this because eat this point it definitely sounds like its worth the 800mp.

The new levels also come with new perks, one of which, "The Puppy Perk" will essentially make Dog Meat immortal, creating a virtual clone each time he perishes in battle.
I think that's awesome - I would definitely take that one. Both times I played through Dogmeat died incredibly quickly.

Yeah, keeping him alive in the other Fallout games was also a huge pain, but I don't think having your dog die is necessarily important to the canon :p
He is still in my Megaton house, no way I'm bringing him into the Wasteland!

I hope there is enough new content in there to actually get me to level 30, 4-5 hours of the main campaign dosnt sound enough, and I really dont want to be grinding kills for hours.

Im looking forward to this but I expect to be disapointed.
This is exactly what I was thinking... and trying to decide whether or not to start a new character instead of lamenting the thousands of XP-less kills I've made with my character who has explored every damn inch of that map.

That said, I am expecting this to be an absolutely awesome DLC.

As long as it isn't broken...

Oh, more DLC. Will then manage to screw it up as with every previous DLC? of course. It is worth paying for? no, why should I pay for a proper ending?

I really want to get this for that puppy perk: now I can not have to make Dogmeat immortal/store him at the Vault all the time.

I hope this really does live up to its expectations, the previous DLC was supposedly 8hrs of game play long yet I seemed to finish the main quest in just over an hour on both and the side quests aren't exactly challenging. But the raised level cap should be good, giving us a few extra perks to play around with but the hours of grind that will accompany this may be irritating.

My major concern will be the appearance of the overall landscape for the new area that this DLC contains. Part of the reason that I stayed away from the Pitt was because it seemed to bring very little to the table that was genuinely new in terms of appearance, it was all just more shades of brown, something that I had already been looking at for 50+ hours in the main game.

I'll keep my eye on this one, I just hope that Bethesda can give this one a little more variety in terms of appearance.

This actually sounds kind of good, it might actually be worth the $10; or will this one be $20?

So far I haven't been too impressed by all this exclusive dlc that ms apparently paid tons of cash for. Everything from GTAs Lost & Damned to F3's Pitt have been really underwhelming. I'm not about to go run out and get my own 360 for it or anything but I might be a little bit jealous when this comes out.
That is unless Broken Steel ends up being just well... Broken.

I think too many people have high expectations, everyone wants it to be long and varied like Shivering Isles (Which is the best DLC Bethesda made) but it's just going to disappoint the majority.

Personally I think they should buckle down and make a full length DLC and making a new feature to make people interested in the wasteland again....such as Green Leaves!,Brown Bark!,Photosynthesis! ALL THAT GOOD STUFF!

of course it will be. Look what happened with the other F3 DLC packs. Was it three releases for the latest one on xbox? While user mods suffer from no such problems, and add more a lot of the time.

Oh, and the fact that there are TWO possible companions (Fawkes and Charon) who are completely IMMUNE to radiation, yet neither will activate the device for you. *sigh*
There's actually a third companion who is immune to radiation, the robot. And, according to Bethesda, you will now be able to send any of the threev them in to do your dirty work for you at the end of the game.

Yea; I'm not too optimistic either. They way they're going they're probably going to just discover a new way to brick the 360.

Sure I'd rather have GECK mods available than DLC but there's no way they're ever going to make that an option on the consoles. From the discrepancies between the console and PC versions of Bethesda games, I'm never buying a Bethesda game for a console again. The PC version always gets a ton of support and the consoles get a couple of DLC packs (and maybe one of them ends up being good: Shivering Isles and perhaps Broken Steel) and that's only if you buy their favorite console; not to mention the price for PC games goes down quicker.

Bethesda have always released broken things to be patched later.
