Yes. Yes they do. Is that a bad thing, though? *looks at Roger Moore in AVTAK and shudders*SmugFrog said:Geez they go through Doctor Whos quicker than 007's, don't they?
Can't be done. It is actually impossible. To have a female Doctor they would either have to create a whole new character, bring back an old one, or completely Retcon the entire series so far, ever since the Tom Baker days. Basically, the Doctor is male. That is a verified fact. There are Time Lords, who are all male, and Time Ladies, who are all female. The Doctor has been established as male, and is a Time Lord, so it is impossible within the series for him to regenerate as a woman. There have actually been female Time Lords (that is, Time Ladies) shown in the series before. Most notably we saw Romana in the old series, who was a companion of the Doctor for a while and who was a Time Lady. What you suggested in your post, Credossuck, is something that simply cannot occur, and I defy anyone to actually suggest it as a serious and actual pitch.Credossuck said:I'm still waiting for the first Woman to become the doctor.
Well....Trivun said:Basically, the Doctor is male. That is a verified fact. ... and I defy anyone to actually suggest it as a serious and actual pitch.
Is there meant to be a point to this comment or is it just you being a trolling sarcastic kind of person? I actually made a very valid point, and although I laughed at Nilcypher's jokey reply (above), I still made a decent point and stand by my statement. If you are going to partake in a decent conversation then I suggest you actually make decent comments in future. Consider yourself reported.Credossuck said:Trivun said:Can't be done. lol.
What I said wasn't arrogant or nerdy (well, maybe a little bit nerdy). The comment I made about your 'lol' was simply because we don't usually tolerate single posts like that on the Escapist, although given you haven't made that many posts I can forgive you for that. You're right in what you are saying, but my point was simply that there can't be a woman Doctor because established canon has already proven it won't happen. Stephen Moffat can always make that change if he wants to, but I think it's obvious he won't. However, if he did I and a lot of other people would still watch it, simply because we love the show. However, most viewers wouldn't want to watch it any more, simply because of the change being too big and going against everything that has already been said within Doctor Who. It's simply unfeasible. Retconning the series would be a lot like retconning any comic book, true, but there's a major difference, and that is that Doctor Who fans won't react well, whereas on the whole most comic fans don't mind too much if something gets retconned (note I'm not a comic fan, I simply use this as an example). Basically I'm going to try and extend an olive branch here, we can simply agree to disagree and leave it at that, if that's alright. We've both made our points, and that's all there is to itCredossuck said:There is a point.Trivun said:Is there meant to be a point to this comment or is it just you being a trolling sarcastic kind of person? lol.
The LoL was meant to clarify that i don't actualy give a rats ass about your personal opinion of wether there ever will be female doctor or not. Your whole post was an excessive nerd rant that was completly uncalled for.
I said "I'm still waiting for the first Woman to become the doctor.".
That is not a question to be answered nor does it imply that i wish to start a discussion about it. I merely stated the fact that I'm still waiting for the first Woman to become the doctor.
And thats it.
And just to make sure i don't get sacked for being massivly off topic, ill use your nerdbarrage as a trojan horse into Amnesty. (Disclaimer: but then again, this is not to discuss the gender change topic, but rather your arrogance in assuming what is and whats not possible in a TV Show that, most of the time, qualifies as batshit insane.)
Its a fictional show. Everything can happen if the writers want it.
With all the things the doc has been through, a gender change ("Here Doctor, my last and FINAL Prank on you! MUAHAHAHAHAAAA!") is not so unthinkable as you wish it.
And you know you'd watch it, just to see how he, or rather she, copes with that change and how (s)hes going to turn back.
So, unlesss you are the sole master of the franchise, who are you to make such bold claims about possibilitys and impossiblitys?
NO! Tom Baker and Colin Baker are proof that bad hair doth not a good nor bad doctor make. They both had terrible hair but Tom pulled it off. And the only good episode with Colin was Trial of a Time Lord.SomeBritishDude said:I'm reserving judgment, as a lot of people are. I didn't know anything about David Tennant when he started (except he played the part of my uncle in a play no ones heard of, long story), or Chris Eccleston before him, and I know sod about this guy. We'll just have to wait and see until next year.
My thoughts exactly. wtf?! Does good hair make you a good actor?!nilcypher said:Are you people really dismissing him because of his hair?
