New Episode of Futurama to Feature Seth MacFarlane as Seymour, Fry's Dog

Futurama is my favourite show, period. But I'm still looking forward to seeing Seymour make a reappearance. My favourite episodes are the ones with actual characterisation in them, particularly the Fry/Leela ones, and Seymour is a cute supporting character with a story of his own.

I'm really upset that these 13 may well be the last new episodes of my favourite show, but I'm glad they're planning to use them to tell the best and most personal stories they can. I don't really have any feelings one way or another for Seth Macfarlane. Truth be told I don't know who he is, but if he's a good VA involved in one of these precious 13, then he's alright in my book.

Whatever reason above posters dislike this guy or say he's ruining things, from the OP it seems he's a VA on one episode, not a writer, animator or director so I doubt the episode will be anything other than bloody brilliant.

McFarlane is a voice actor as well guys. He's done stuff for Robot Chicken, I don't see you declaring that a terrible travesty of triviality. Just as long as they don't let him write anything (because I'm still with you guys on the "everything he writes is utter excrement" thing) we should be fine

The last minute or so of that episode is the one piece of entertainment that has ever made me actually cry. To this day I cannot watch that episode.

That being said, McFarlane isn't writing it (to my knowledge). He his just doing voice work so while I'd like to see them leave it as it is, I can handle him being involved as long as he and they don't make a mockery of it.

You guys should relax, it's just a dream. . . Literally, it says in the article that Seth will voice Seymour in Fry's dream. Doesn't seem like a problem to me. Where were you guys when they retconned away the sad ending in Bender's big score.

... okay, I didn't see anywhere in the linked article where it said it was a dream-sequence, so I'll cling to hope and take your word for it.
And Bender's Big Score may have softened the blow, but it didn't fundamentally change the character dynamics. Seymore was still Seymore. (and for that matter, with all the paradoxes, can we be sure that it didn't all happen in some alternate time-line?)

And the article does say that it will be the one and only time that Seymour speaks.

I was annoyed enough when that happened. I wasn't a big fan of the movies, and I kinda drifted out of watching Futurama after them.

I loved the original Seymour episode. I like to brag about how I rarely cry at stuff but that made me bawl like a baby.

Then again, I guess it does depend on how they actually handle it. In theory they could make a good homage to that original episode if they play it right. But judging by the screenshot in the article, I'm not holding up much hope...

That's the how, not the why ;-) I got how he's able to speak, but not why he needs to.

That line is so often used as a parody or a cliche, that we forget it can be accurate at times.
