I was looking through the threads around here, and it dawned on me, We should have an anime board, what does everyone else think?
Probably because anime transcends its own genre in some ways, depending on what you've been exposed to. That, and it's one of the more popular topics here on the Escapist. Not a day goes by when I don't see an avatar of a user derived from an anime, mine included. I think it's a great idea. Why not?thaluikhain said:Why? Anime is merely a genre/artistic style, we don't have forum for those. If we did, why anime and not anything else?
You realize that, by that logic, we'd also have to make a pony forum?Z of the Na said:Not a day goes by when I don't see an avatar of a user derived from an anime, mine included.
Oh, what a peaceful and tolerant forum that would be...Hal10k said:You realize that, by that logic, we'd also have to make a pony forum?Z of the Na said:Not a day goes by when I don't see an avatar of a user derived from an anime, mine included.
Is there anything wrong with that? Hardly. An anime forum would fall along similar lines: a centralized forum where a broader range of topics regarding anime could be focused, rather than just mixing them in with Off-topic.Hal10k said:You realize that, by that logic, we'd also have to make a pony forum?
4chan did it, why not the escapist? Kidding, KiddingHal10k said:You realize that, by that logic, we'd also have to make a pony forum?Z of the Na said:Not a day goes by when I don't see an avatar of a user derived from an anime, mine included.
Creating a new forum board would only be justifiable if that forum board were expected to receive a comparable amount of traffic to the forums that already exist. There have been roughly three anime threads on the off-topic board in the last two weeks. Even being generous with the estimation, those threads accounted for less than .1% of the total traffic that board received. It isn't worth the trouble. If we bothered to create sub-forums for every topic that received the slightest bit of attention, the forums would be cluttered with long-abandoned subforums for old games that all recieved more forum traffic than anime threads are now.Z of the Na said:Is there anything wrong with that? It's a principle of organization and choice more than anything else.
Noted.Hal10k said:Creating a new forum board would only be justifiable if that forum board were expected to receive a comparable amount of traffic to the forums that already exist. Actually 4chan banned Pony threads entirely. Then a break off group created an entirely new site called PonyChan.Brad Shepard said:4chan did it, why not the escapist? OT: If we had a forum for anime. We'd need forums for ponies, mass effect, Warhammer, call of duty and everything else.
The exact reasons why user groups exist.
Well they originally banned pony threads entirely. They must have made that after. But really. PonyChan is better because it isn't filled with the 4chan haters.Brad Shepard said:http://boards.4chan.org/mlp/ This looks like a Pony board to me.TimeLord said:Actually 4chan banned Pony threads entirely. Now this is a far better ideaSycoMantis91 said:Yea, I agree with the people saying anime is too niche of a topic. Not that I'd hate if they did it, and not that I wouldn't use it, but I doubt it would get enough attention to justify an entire sub-forum. Perhaps an "alternative media" forum. For things such as tv, movies, anime, music, and the like. I can see that garnering worthwhile usage.
