New FPS game

so i find myself bored and i need of a really good shooting game, im not picky about it being a fps or a RPG just something that throws u into the shit and is an awesome game i have both a good gaming PC and a 360. anyone got any suggestions?

Half Life 1 + 2 + Episodes (I don't like em but 98% of the gaming population disagrees, so I bet you're one of them)

Try Left 4 Dead 2. I can't think of any game that throws you into better shit than that.

Left 4 Dead 2, Halo 3, Halo: ODST, and Borderlands are all good choices.

All great if you're doing multiplayer which he may not.

I'd throw in Bioshock and COD4. FPS' have really stagnated of late

It is easily the most atmospheric game I've ever played, and you said you wanted to be thrown in the story

Though, because it sticks so close to the universe, a lot of the game is about creeping you out, not so much on non-stop-action-thrill-ride. Also, the guns don't work very well, and this is entirely intentional. You'll have to shoot things a lot to kill them.

I still found it a great experience though.

Have you tried the Orange Box?

Four great shooters (Half-Life 2, its episodes, and TF2), plus easily the greatest puzzle game ever.

Get PC, I think it is 30 bucks on Steam.

Uhgggg those 3 games alone make me want to barf. They were all so shallow and unfulfilling. L4D2 just felt like L4D1, a giant grind through the same shit over and over.

Metro 2033 - is a pretty good post-apocalyptic shooter. Campaign was entertaining enough to keep me playing till the end. I got that last week and its worth the $30 that it's going for now.
Singularity - Haven't actually got my copy yet (the PC version had been discontinued in Australia, so I've ordered one) but this game looks pretty sick. Probably not a stand out title, but it looks like it'll be pretty fun.

Best FPS that I've got recently though:

Sniper: Ghost Warrior - Go get this now!! It's out for PC and 360 so theres no reason you shouldn't get. In fact get 2 copies. I picked up a retail copy last night and played the shit out of it! The campaign is engaging and challenging enough (play on hard) and the sniper concept is extremely well executed. Awesome game, and the best shooter I've played this year.

I would suggest Killing Floor, great shooter, tons of replay value. Best investment I made last/this year. Can't really recommend any other FPSs that have come out recently that have wowed me at all.
