are you excited for the new futurama episodes in a few weeks, or do fear it'll go down the "family guy" path (straight down the toilet)?

Same writers, same voice actors, same producers. It will be as if Futurama will never have left us... *sigh*

I'm excited.
I mean the show wasn't bad quality when it was canceled and I enjoyed all the movies (even if the green yonder was a bit weird). So I'm pretty confident we'll get some good episodes.

I love Futurama and I'm glad it's coming back. Family guy however needs to die sometime soon, while at least some people still find it funny. It's just deteriorated so much since season 4-ish.

8 Simple Rules. And yes it does sound very similar. I'd be surrised if it wasn't her that voiced leela.

I was under the impression the "new season" of futurama was simply the movies (bender's big score, beast with a billion backs, bender's game, wild green yonder) divided up into episodes.

While actual new futurama was unconfirmed.
They were, but then Adult Swim picked up Futurama, and then Comedy Central picked it up. Eventually they called for a new season that wasn't the movies.

Plus, there have been commercials for the new series on Comedy Central, and many articles for it on this site.

OT: I'm exited. Very exited.

Words fail me at conveying my emotions about this.

Stoked! Futurama is awesome. Every episode is funny in some way, and it's very rare for me to find a show that is like that.

Except the one with Fry's dog. That was just beyond sad.

Agreed that was a sad episode, you really feel for him.

I always liked their Funny Futuristic point of view. so it depends if the main story is enough more like a Farse than just some random day in the office if you get my meaning.

I'm pretty excited, I haven't stopped watching Futurama reruns even after all these years, and hopefully it'll be restored to its former glory.

Fingers crossed, this has great potential.

Since the subject of Family Guy was bought up, I actually liked Season 4 better than the pre-cancellation series. I'll give you that it went downhill from there, however.

On topic, I'm very much looking forward to this, though I hope it's not like the movies (don't get me wrong, they were good, they just didn't quite have the series charm). Futurama is probably my favorite western cartoon (yes, even topping The Simpsons, and I love The Simpsons), and more wonderful episodes are welcome. Especially since the series left the Fry-Leela romance hanging.

I'm very much excited for new Futurama. That means more Bender and Zoidberg and when can't you go wrong with Zoidberg

She does.

OT: It should be pretty damn good, if not I'll just watch all the original episodes again to remember the awesomeness (so its a win-win either way)

i can not wait

also it is the exact same people doing the new episodes so as long as one of the writers have not had hard core head injury we should be fine!

I rarely watched Futurama to begin with, so I don't really care about a new season of it.

I can't wait, I am psyched. I can't believe Comedy Central wouldn't want to pick up King Of the Hill, however, but maybe it is too expensive. Plus, Brittany Murphy is dead, so that would be a tough hurdle.
