For those of you who don't know, New Game Plus is basically a game mode usually in rpgs where you take the character from a previous play-through and import him into a new game with all his abilities, weapons, and equipment carrying over from the first play-through.

My favorite game right now, Mass Effect 2 is in that position partly because it is one of the few games of the time that has this feature. My main reason for liking plus is because it gives you the ability to go back and try out your sexy endgame equipment from day one, making you truly feel like a powerful badass.

Games that have forced endings especially need this mode. For example, in KOTOR, there was an area in the last level where you would revive the best robes in the game (the Star forge robes). However, after a quick boss fight, the game ends without you getting much of a chance to feel like a baddass in your new threads and you would have to start the whole game over again from nothing. This is why I dont replay the game nearly as much as I should.

A more up to date game, the Witcher 2. You get some pretty sweet gear at the final area (a dragon sword, awesome armor) and by this time you are at the top of your game after figuring out how to use all of the abilities you procured after leveling up. Then, in much the same way as KOTOR, the game ends and you lose all of your abilities and equipment. I think that it should become standard in future RPGs to include a new game plus that will let you play through the game with your character just as you left him on any difficulty (Looking at you Jade Empire!)

I agree. What's even more fun is when they don't scale to your level.

Take Mask of the Betrayer. After finishing it, you can re-do the whole story again as a level 30 with all the awsome powers already. It gets boring, but you can still do it. I think Dante's Inferno and God of War did this well.

I liked the new game + in Borderlands, (personally I enjoy when everything just scales up) because it made everything much more intense

I love the concept in general, it usually extends the life of the game to a good degree

Chrono Trigger did this best. and I think was one of the first if not the first. You even got different endings depending on when you chose to fight the boss of the game when you played new game +. I don't like the idea of simply replaying the game with better equipment and levels alone. I want it to be so new game + actually can affect the story. Also Nier is another great example that lets you play the second half of the game but let's you see the story line in a totally different light. (forgot if you keep your equipment and levels though.)

The developement of the game is still ongoing. Who knows, perhaps among the FREE DLC packs and oatches they might implement it.

That is excellent news Studios like that are becoming alarmingly rare. Does this mean that when you said "Start a Petition" you were being serious?

I always like the quest for glory series which allowed you to import your character over: although you tended to loose you equipment you did still start off with the abilities/spells from the previous game.

He/she could have been. Look up Witcher The Enhanced Edition and how that ended up being a FREE download for those who bought the original witcher.

The only game that I enjoyed playing the New Game+ recently was Demon's Souls. You get all your equipment, spells, miracles, etc but all the enemies are tougher and do more damage.
