The mouse I have right now is breaking slowly. I stepped on it a year ago and it hasn't been right since. Also, it's just a normal Logitech mouse, nothing special. I'm looking to get a gaming mouse to replace it soon. Price does not really matter, as I will be getting my moneys worth for sure, but under $100 would be good. Rechargeable batteries is a plus. Another plus would be bluetooth, but wireless in general is good. I've looked on the internet some, and it's hard to really know whats avaliable now in 2010, not over a year ago. Thanks for your help, Escapists.

Logitech MX-518 or the latest version number of it anyway. A good mouse, I don't bother with wireless. Programmable buttons, alt+tab button, 2 buttons to change mouse sensitivity and an ergonomic shape.

Is it mouses or mice when talking about computers? I have never looked that up.

I've been using my Logitech G5 for years now. When it finally goes, I'll almost certainly replace it with a modern equivalent. Best mouse I've ever had for ANY purpose.

1. Get a laser mouse, they have sublime accuracy.
2. Pick a mouse with enough programmable buttons.
3. Wired > wireless, wired has less inputlag and you'll never run out of juice.
4. Go to a local electronic store and try some mouses, make sure you pick a mouse that feels comfortable.

Don't get wireless for gaming.

I've had a G5 for a few years now and it's perfect, not too small and hasn't got weird grooves for where my hand is supposed to go.
Interchangeable weights so if you want it light or heavy, and sensitivity changing buttons.

Quite cheap now I think as well.

Pretty much what I was going to say already has been.

Truth be told about five years ago I bought your old standard Microsoft 'Intelipoint' mouse, it's corded, optical, has NEVER GIVEN ME ANY TROUBLE and frankly I'd be surprised if it didn't last me another five or ten years.

That's what I'd get personally if I was in the market for a new mouse.

...

If you're one of those people who needs an eight button VVunderMousen then I don't even know where to start and probably can't help you.

Gotta agree, the MX518 is the greatest mouse I've ever used. Great functionality, and it feels very natural in the hands.

Logitech make some great mice.
Love my G5

Just my personal experience but before I got my Logitech I had 3 Razer mice, They all broke within weeks. (The last 2 were replacements offered by the store, who in the end gave up and gave me a refund)
It might have been a bad batch, but considering the last one was a different model it is unlikely.

Thanks for the help guys.

Looks like it boils down to the Logitech G5 and MX-518. I was looking at the Alienware mouse, which is $100, and what I was basing my decision off of, and Razer mice looked pretty cool, but not if they break more then 360s and RAZR cell phones. I'll go look at the store tomorrow and see what they got.

I'm also going to be using it for graphic design, so I want the programmable buttons.

I've been using my Razer Lachesis for two years solid and it has shown no signs of fatigue.
I've gone through 2 Logitech G7s in the same amount of time. Never going with them again.

That's exactly what I did (yes, even the 5 years ago part). My only complaint is that it's kinda grimy... though I suppose that might be my fault. ;)

I had a wired Ballpoint Mouse. Oh the horrors...

OT: Get a comfortable laser mouse. I'd rather have a wireless mouse but others say wired. Your call.

FWIW I`ve got 2 Razers (Diamondback and Salmosa) and they've been good to me. I have large hands but find most Razers more comfortable than Logitech's gaming mice because I don't rest my palm on the mouse. If you hold your mouse the same way, you should look in to them.
