New Gfx Card help.

Okay, the situation as it stands is; I recently came to purchase an XFX 5870. Best thing ever, all my games look great. For about a week or so. Then, on some games, models have started to flicker at the edges, large lines streaking off of them and such. Also, on one game, many black dots have begun to flood the screen. I have tried updating drivers many times, to no avail. For images of the problem at work, refer to the images below;

The games I have so far tested that display these problems are as follows;

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Assassin's Creed 2

Any advice as to what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like artifacts to me, this usually occurs when your GPU is unstable through overclocking or lack of power. Have you overclocked it? Are you sure its getting the power it needs? If you are sure its all plugged in correctly, what Power supply do you have, and at what wattage? ATI ask for a 500W PSU, 600W to be safe.

I saw that browsing on some other forums. I haven't changed the clock rates at all, and I have a 750W Corsair PSU. Is it likely that the card was just faulty?

EDIT: Could it be that one of the extra power connectors slipped out or something?

The card could be faulty. Power connectors slipping out seems very unlikely as they get 'locked' in the slot. One way to find out if that did somehow happen though.

Not to my knowledge. There's no record of anything like that, and the Catalyst control center tells me that all the clock rates are still locked, so I took that to mean they're factory normal.

If you havent sent it away, just uninstall CCC and give it a try first. Seems alot of the time when PC's came into the repair shop for gaming card graphics, CCC was causing it to play up.
