So just earlier today at Arcsys tournament "ArcRevo", they released a stunning announcement trailer for an all new Guilty Gear in the works. The long awaited return of Guilty Gear by many fans is coming to an end it seems with a brand new iteration this time and not some update #2342.
The game will be sort of like SF4 in terms of art direction approach, using a 3D engine (Unreal 3), but still maintaining a 2D look and its 2D gameplay. Makes it look like a super hi res 2D game in some regards, but looks like stuff such as Over Drives and Dust launchers will briefly shift into 3D like perspective during their animations.
So far no specific platforms have been announced, but I say it's safe to say it may be on both current and next gen consoles *crosses fingers for PC version*.

Personally I think the game looks eye poppingly gorgeous even if this is like alpha footage. And while I will always love hi res 2D sprites, I am really liking the way this looks. It may be using 3D models, but still has the heart and spirit of the 2D games.
So, who else is excited?
