Of course you do; since the team are independent and likely won't earn a great deal of return back on the game however they are able to use the UDK for dirt-cheap - an engine that costs most studios, whom need to use more than UnrealScript, a pretty substantial amount. Furthermore the game is a Multi-player only shooter with what appears to be rather simplistic game mechanics; how exactly can you compare that to a single player game; which require far more content, and interesting set-pieces?j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:You obviously don't need to blow millions of dollars to make a good looking game anymore, so can publishers stop putting all their monies into a few unoriginal eye candy IPs and start taking risks again? Because if a small indie team can do this, then you've really got no excuse.
Which part of multi-player only can't you comprehend?thethingthatlurks said:This looks awesome, I'm sure we are all in agreement there. But there is a major point of contrition I fear hasn't been addressed properly: will the game feature a bunch of underdressed, anorexic teenagers who have to save the world in between angst and whining about said angst?
Sure you are. And you're claiming this whilst simultaneously lacking the knowledge as to how this was produced. Your comments were incorrect within the context of the situation on a technical level.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:All I'm trying to say is that there may well be a few things major developers can learn from indie developers such as the Hawken guys if they want to stop spiralling costs and become more cost-effective. I'm not trying to purport some idea that all indie games can become AAA games with a bit of spit and polish.
When you insult a group of people with as little knowledge as you hold, and then continue to preach ignorance after being given clear explanations you deserve to be treated in a hostile manner. However, the fact that you've resorted to name calling and a generally insulting tone means I'm no longer compelled to keep this debate going. Respond as you will, I don't particularly care now.
