Just saw this, thought you guys might want to see.

Thank you kindly to this guy with the better quality.

What did you think? It's definitely not going to be as dark or action focused as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, based off of what I remember from the book, but it might be for the best.

Let's just hope that Jackson actually read the book he's going to make a film of, because he sure as hell either didn't read or couldn't comprehend what happened in the LotR.

It seen fitting how its going to be out next year (that when the other films were out). From the look of the trailer they were able to recapture the cast apperances and the setting. So overall I am definitely watching it next year!

Well, I'm in. They can have my money. All that's left to do now is wait and see if it's actually any good.

Hmmm...looks like they are sticking lots of LotR stuff in (Narsil, Galadriel etc) that weren't in the book.

Oh, and did it look like Galadriel was getting overly friendly with Gandalf there, or was it just me?

It looks more child-friendly than LoTR, which is fair enough because that was the case with the book. Regardless, this might warrant going to the cinema to see.

Next December? Damn that's a long time to make us wait, though will be worth it if the movie is lengthy and done well.

Its a two parter "An Unexpected Journey" and "There and Back Again"

OT: Plenty excited. I wonder how long it will take for the extended edition to come out.

I'm a bit angry with it. Being my favorite book of all time, I really don't want them to fuck this up, but the unnecessary stuff they added is really pissing me off.

I'm not talking about having old Bilbo & Frodo as a framing device. While I don't love that idea, as long as they aren't in it too much it's fine with me. No, what annoys me is the extra stuff with Gandalf, that wasn't in the book. It's just Peter Jackson trying to make it more like his LotR films, which is a really bad move. The hobbit's story is on a smaller scale, than LotR, it doesn't need all this extra stuff.

Also, in the hobbit, the ring is nothing more than a magic ring bilbo found, that turns you invisible. From the short glimpse of it in the trailer, it appears they intend to portray it with a foreboding & evil presence, which is also a bad move.

This is of course, all based on a 2:30 long trailer, and I could be making a mountain out of a molehill, but as I said before; it is my favorite book of all time, and I just want to see it done justice.

I see what you mean, but I was under the impression that the only reason that it's like that in the book is because Tolkien hadn't expanded the universe that much at the time he wrote The Hobbit. I'm ok with tying it a bit more to the LotR series, I think it places it a bit more in-universe. From what I can see there's still a lot of the less-serious tone in it (judging by the dwarves), so I'm hoping it will be well-balanced.
