My current keyboard and mouse (a Saitek Eclipse and Logitech G5 respectively) have served me well for about half a decade but subtle symptoms that indicate it may be time to consider replacement. On the mouse front, I now routinely have to "reboot" the mouse for lack of a better word in order to get it to function and they keyboard has finally decided that I have spilled sufficient debris into its many crevices that keys take an inordinate amount of pressure to trigger. While either problem can likely be solved by simple maintenance, my hardware philosophy is such that such incidents demand retirement and replacement.

Thus, I simply ask for a few recomendations for keyboards and/or mice that other Escapist users have experience with. I have no real brand preference, though I have generally been satisfied with the performance and ergonomics of both my current devices.

I would suggest a Saitek Eclipse II for a keyboard, nothing special but backlit which is great for night time sessions. Choice of 3 colours if thats your thing, blue purple and red.

G9 for a mouse, great mouse, had it for nearly 2 years now, excellent DPI and nice features.

both are quite cheap these days.

I use love my Logitech G5 2nd Gen. It's been good to me for over 3 years.
The Keyboard, I'd recommend a Saitek, they're pretty solid.

Logitech G9 Mouse, and Logitech G11 keyboard here.

I used the MX518 for about 3 years, but if you're going to get it I'd suggest just relplacing the G5. (The MX518's lack of a screen for indicating the sensitivity really fucks you up)

Also if you're willing to shell out 200 the G19 has a color LCD on it. (Handy for, say, an ingame map. Lots of games are compatible with it these days.)

For a mouse I would strongly recommend re-buying a g5. If you dont want to, consider the newer Logitech g500

As for the keyboard, check out SteelSeries.Their keyboards have the fastest response time and they are very durable. If you want something cheap then it's Logitech G11.
