My prievious laptop after 5 years has finally died and I'm looking to buy a new one, but I don't have any experience so wondering if anyone could provide some advice. I need it to create documents, access the internet, play minecraft and be under 1000 pounds, (no pound sign on ps3). At the moment I'm thinking of getting a cheap dell like my last one or spending more on an alienware laptop to play pc games other than minecraft. It miight take me a while to reply cause I'm typing through my ps3.

Really depends on the games your playing. I have a dell Vostro, I hav office 2010, and minecraft + shogun 2 and some other more graphic requiring games on it. Has an i5. gets the job done and is definatly affordable. However, its not gona play Crisis or Skyrim anytime soon. You should go to the dell website and trick out your own laptop alienware or no.

I've got a new Sony Vaio that's roughly £500, and I've been playing Minecraft non-stop on and it's been perfect so far.

I wouldn't bother with Alienware. The parts in them are like 2 thirds of the current price in a year. I always suggest getting something solid yet not over the top wonderful. Also I wouldn't commend gaming on a laptop, sure it works but the cooling is horrible in most cases (some ritzy newer ones have much better cooling systems). My pick would be an Asus. Durable and fast. 1 gig graphics, maybe an i5 and 4-8 gig of RAM is all you really need for a gaming rig.

Also I would suggest checking your pick through something like the whirlpool forums to see any complaints or commendations on the model.

this guy has the answer. If all you need is minecraft, don't overspend. (hell you could probably play wow med settings on it lol
It's does Empire: Total War on med/low settings, I've found.

yeah i would go with Asus, great all around laptops, just look at some of their affordable models and make your choice

also im going to be the first to say......

"get a Desktop, not a Laptop if you want to play games!"
