My fellow escapists,
I post today seeking the wisdom of the masses and lacking time to have a proper shufti myself for a new MP3 player.
MP3 players suffer greatly at my hands. I cycle everywhere and in all weathers. My last MP3 players was a Sony job with a wierd headphone connection that died.
While I would very much like to get one suitably weatherproofed for sports and junk, I just got married and I'm broke as fuck.
So I'm looking for some advice for a cheap and cheerful MP3 player in the 50 quid region that's not going to be a bugger to use and I won't shed many tears over when it stops working. If it's internally powered or runs on batteries isn't an issue.
Primary use would be to play audiobooks or shuffle music tracks.
Anything goes as long as I can copy music straight to it like a folder. I don't want to have to deal with a music manager of ANY description.
So in summary of my requirements:
- Less than £50 (and preferrably UK sourced if second hand)
- Able to put up with a fair amount of abuse
- Able to fast forward relatively easily through long tracks
- Shuffle
- NO music manager
- Size and weight preferrable as I will need to be able to feel where it is when I'm on the bike.
Integral USB connection i.e. not needing cables would be sexy but not mandatory.
My thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions. Please try and keep the brand flaming to a minimum... it'd be nice to keep the thread alive without attracting the ire of our friendly neighbourhood Mods.
