I don't know any specific bands, but I suggest trying pandora radio. Just choose an artist or a genre and it builds a playlist based off of that. The free version has ads, but not too many.

Ever heard Marilyn Manson?

I won't post the actual music video, cause it shows him as a sadistical madman and it's kinda fucked up.

I'm always happy to recommend Kamelot and Ensiferum to anyone who listens to anything remotely metal.

Why not try looking through some of the better known classic rock bands for something you like? Personally, I've had lots of enjoyment from bands like ACDC, Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes (not very classic, I know, but still fantastic) and Metallica.

As suggested above, Muse and Marilyn Manson are also brilliant.

But wait! There's more! If you get through all of those, try System of a Down, Three Days' Grace, Apocalyptica, HIM (His Infernal Majesty) or Nirvana! I promise you won't be disappointed.

All you need is Rosetta, Isis, and Russian Circles.
Very much this. Also, I think you should step away from the nu-metal before you end up buying a wallet-chain and your brain irrevocably falls out.
