New old skool games.

So my folks are trying to get into gaming, but they aren't the hardest of cores. They used to play games like Doom and Wolf3D back in the day. More recently, mum played the buttons of puzzle games like Lummings, Devil Dice and Kurushi and Dad crawled and shot his was through Killzone and Return to castle Wolfenstein.

My question to you my dear friends, are there any recent(ish) games that my folks would enjoy? Something simple, something that won't tear mums laptop apart (it is fair from a beast) and something that is fun.

Civilization IV, or some similar strategy game which is fun and engrossing but doesn't require 'twitch' reactions.
