Hope this is the right forum area to post this

Anyway I?m looking to get a new pc in the next few weeks.
Here is a suggested build someone gave me. Anything wrong with it? Any improvements? More bang for my buck? Is it missing anything that I would need to get the pc up and running? Im thinking that this build is like 100-200 more than I would like to spend on a new PC, Any suggestions on slightly cheaper peices. also how do you think it would run current games and games coming out over the next 1-3 years?

I haven?t looked into computer hardware in years so i have to trust other peoples oppinions

i5 2500k
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws 16gb 1600Mhz ram
Gainward GeForce GTX 580 3GB Phantom
Corsair AX850 Gold Power Supply or OCZ Technology ZX Series 850W Power Supply
CoolerMaster CM 690 II Advanced NVIDIA Edition USB3.0
BenQ XL2410T 23.6 Inch Widescreen LED Monitor 120Hz
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with SP1 OEM
LG GH24NS90 24x SATA DVD-RW Drive OEM
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB WD1002FAEX
Ducky DK9008 Shine Mech Keyboard Green LED
Already have a mouse so no need to suggest that and i don?t use speakers, got headphones.

Thanks

For starters, unless you're doing audio/video work, you don't need 16GB ram. Cut that down to 8 at the most.

Other than that, can't really see anywhere to cut back. I personally wouldn't use an ASRock mobo, but that's just personal choice.

yeah 4gb would be enough, wouldnt it? that would save like $50+ thats a start.

4gb would probably "be enough" for starters - but i'd plan on grabbing another 4gb down the track if needed.

had another look at the ram. plan on getting 8gb, cheap enough :)

any suggestion on a different motherboard.

can anyone see any compatibility issues like sockets not matching or fsb etc techno babble

Can I just point out that RAM with stupid looking heat sinks can obstruct the cooler if you're planning on not using a stock cooler. Because of this, you may as well get some equivalent speed RAM minus the heat sinks.

Oh, and with the money you save from not buying 16Gb of RAM you can get an aftermarket cooler for the i5, which will keep it cooler than the stock cooler and generally be better.

As for RAM without heat sinks, there's this [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMX8GX3M2A1333C9-XMS3-Memory-Module/dp/B003N8GVUY/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1331464687&sr=1-4&tag=acleint06-21], this [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-HyperX-Genesis-1600MHz-Memory/dp/B004JO3L40/ref=sr_1_14?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1331464800&sr=1-14&tag=acleint06-21] or these [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-HyperX-1333MHz-Memory-Module/dp/B004DDI0IE/ref=sr_1_17?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1331464800&sr=1-17&tag=acleint06-21]

Also, RAM speed is generally not an issue, as it's unnoticeable in most applications.

i think the ram i plan on getting doesnt have a major heat sink. i think it adds like 1 cm of height to the ram. do you think that could still cause issues?

Also i never had issues with the normal/stock cpu cooler before. if i overclock or run into over heating issues in the future i will get a better cooler then.
