NEW PC GAMER NEEDS HELP!

I just got Battlefield 2142 as my first PC game and i tried playing it a few months back but didnt work.I just tried again after getting a better video card and played it offline and it runs great so i know there is no problem with that.My problem is when I try playing online it says that the server does not allaw mods and to revert the game to its orignal way,but the only thing i got,besides the game its self, is the patch that game comrade said I needed.I just tried taking the patch off but when I do that it doesnt even find servers.Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

P.S. im not computer savy,so yeah...

It's a pretty game specific problem, I'm not sure how active the 2142 community still is but their forums would know exactly what to do. I can't help as I've only got BF2 experience.

Uninstall the whole thing, and reinstall the game. Use the patches from the game itself or the official website (and only from these places, in this case). Make sure your firewall isn't blocking the game.

In my opinion, Gamespy Comrade isn't very good. Especially if it demands a special patch to work. Use Xfire or Steam for your game organising needs.

I remember having the same sort of trouble and it was a corrupted patch I got from fileplanet. Uninstall/reinstall should work if you DL the patches directly from them.

2142 is on my "Games I should reinstall sometime" list, but I haven't played it in 2-3 years.

yea yer best bet is to reinstall and try to get the patches from the official site, if that doesn't work then ether enjoy the company of the bots in game or bug the heck out of EA till they help ya, the 2142 forums haven't been as active as they used to be, game isn't all that popular.

Oh, that wasn't your question. Try reinstalling punkbuster and see if that fixes it, otherwise reinstall and patch from the EA/battlefield site.
