I'll admit when I first found this I thought "You have got to be shitting me." The original film was fun but most every other movie the Predators have been in has been pretty awful. Then I watched the trailer.

http://www.predators-movie.com/

Watched it? Good. Holy Crap! Not only does it look bad ass but its got Lawrence Fishburne and Adrianne Brody playing two of the leads. They also seem to have changed the plot from the original. Now the Predators have picked up a bunch of people and transplanted them to another world. An alien big game park if you will.

Anyway, looks awesome so I thought I'd share.

Edit: My original posting was incorrect. This film is a direct sequel to the original movie, not a remake or a reboot or anything else I might have said on this thread. Sorry for the confusion.

The original film was fun but hardly worthy of a remake
Where does it say that it's a remake? It's got a different set of characters, in a different location, with a different plot. They've even pulled the Alien/s trick of adding an 's' so it isn't the same movie title.

The trailer made the movie look amazing. I just pray to any and all gods (and maybe some of the devils and demons) that exist that this movie gets an R rating.

Oops, my bad. Remake is definitely the wrong word. Spiritual successor maybe? Ahh, whatever.

What I was trying to say was that the first movie was the best one of the lot and even it was just a solid B-movie. As such I was skeptical of this new one. That is until I saw the trailer.

Bleh. It feels as if they're turning Predators into stereotypical monsters. I found them interesting simply beacuse of that they were usually pictured differently then all the other non-human creatures in sci-fi. My love for honor-bound warrior cultures never looses its spark! A very exotic sense of depth in my opinion.

Sequel, perhaps? It's essentially Predator 3.

Reboot, that's the word I've taken three posts to find.

I'm a true fan (maybe even a fanboy *shudder*) of the Predator/Alien/AvP franchises.

Take it from me, something needed to happen to pull these franchises out of the proverbial shit heap. And thankfully, this looks like it will inject something fresh into the series.

Alien:Resurrection/AvP/AvP:R have all helped in various ways to destroy the spirit of the films. Alien 3 is borderline, but redeemable.

When you consider the source material they could have used, I almost pissed blood thanks to Paul W. S. Anderson's/Strause brother's visions.

Even if Predator was a B-Grade film for its time, I would consider it more like a cult classic now.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the hell out of the first Predator and it's a damn shame the subsequent movies treated the franchise so poorly. That being said there's a reason it's a cult classic and not a true classic. As comparison just look at the other franchise you mentioned, Aliens. Another sci fi franchise that subsequent movies treated poorly but the first two movies are fucking brilliant.

It's good to see that the Predators are trying to save gas. Ha, I made a joke.

You see? 'Cuz, they teleported them to...the planet...

Oh, never mind.

OT: My stepdad showed me this trailer. It does look quite awesome, and I will definitely see it.

But it's not a reboot. It's not restarting the franchise, it's set after the first two movies. Hell, in one iteration of the script, Arnie has a cameo as Dutch. It's a sequel.

Oh man, that looks cool. A good director, some good actors and it seems to be just about the Predators, with no mention of Alien... which is good because even though those two clearly have a good time working together they need time apart to express themselves individually.
I am really hoping this will be good and it looks like it may well be, which is good, we need a good solid Predator movie in this day and age I reckon.

EDIT: Big thing though... will it play in Australian cinemas?

Must admit I haven't heard much of anything about the script but if you say it's a sequel okay then.

If they said it would be just another predator movie, keeping with the same plot like the first two, I probably would not be too excited about it. Seeing the trailer, it looks like they took a whole new idea on the predators. Instead of the go and kill thing, there is this whole idea of taking up the best human warriors and seeing if they can beat the predators. I think it might be worth going to see in the near future.
This doesn?t really feel like an add-on to the other movies. It is more of a situation where you keep the same basic idea of hunting based alien race, but you through in a whole new plot to make it different. Whether that will work out for or against the moviemakers is something we just have to see, based on how it all plays out.

To coin a very British phrase, this looks like the dogs bollocks.

Fishburne, Brody, miniguns, forests, Predators. How can this possibly be a bad film?

I mean it can be cheesy, contain poor acting, anything, but at the end of the day it's fucking Predators killing the shit outa human meatbags, which is entertainment at its finest, surely?

If the guy with the katana at any point deflects a discus, I'm walking out of the cinema. Which will be a shame, because the rest of it looks great.

Also, what was so bad about Preadator 2? It was a great film!

Predator 2 could have been great, if not for the King Willie stuff. The idea of the Predator using the gang war to cover his hunt was fantastic, but King Willie was weak as a villain.

Agreed I liked in the originals, in spite of their many, many, many(repeat ad-nauseum) flaws, the way that when you saw through the predators eyesit actually felt like you were part of the hunt it gavean insight to how they tracked their prey and in a mild way how they thought. in this one it looks to be all here strange ceepy noise see funny red lights get hacked to pieces.

And it is a break from the traditional mythos. Predators always hunted their prey in their home enviroments and they did it solo. Bout the only thing they seem to have gotten right bout the traditional m.o. was that they targetted to biggest baddest prey they could find.

It was all done or the thrill of the hunt the honour of taking down the best prey.

That said least Schwarzenegger isn't in this one and if I can put aside my past convictions it could be quite enjoyable

It does. So that means I can't watch it in the theatre...

OT: Already watched it. Looks sweet!
