Not sure if I am allowed to do this, or if it has been done before, but I recently was just searching for Prototype and found this video posted on E3 about 2 hours ago, and I thought other people who are interested and who hasn't seen this trailer should be informed about it.

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-prototype-2/714727

I know threads should also be about discussion so I was thinking we could talk about, how the Heller vs Mercer thing is going to play out, before Heller only said Mercer was responsible for turning him into something like Mercer, but now he blames him for the death of his wife and kid, and also claims that Mercer is sending infected after him, could that be a misunderstanding or is Mercer actually sending infected after him.

We aren't really shown any new powers or enemies in this trailer, the only 'new' thing I could find is when Heller latches onto the helicopter with a bunch of Tendrils. New power maybe? Or just a move specifically for helicopters.

EDIT: Scratch that, I saw flying infested.

I forget the name, but do you guys think the son of Elizabeth Greene is going to be in this game? Maybe a common enemy for Heller/Mercer?

If the boss fight against Alex is not suitably epic I shall be thoroughly disappointed.
Also, this game needs more powers. Prototype 1 was cool, but the only really useful things were the claws and the whip, the other few things that you had were just distractions, really.

I hope that the fight against Alex is epic, but I hope they don't use a timed boss fight to achieve that, I hate being on a time limit, I always panic thinking that I'm never going to make it in time.

Really? I never found the claws particularly useful after I got everything else. The blade works really well once you upgrade it, and I found myself using MuscleMass quite a bit, because you can use it to beat the special agents to death once you get close enough. It does pretty good close-range damage (plus if you hit ordinary civilians, they explode into stings of meat and blood, with a stray leg or arm still left intact. Hell yeah.)
However, I do agree that there were balance issues; once you've got the whip, you hardly ever use anything else.

I think it will be good. Now there's zones with either a)infested b) refugee camps and c) heavily policed areas.

I'm guessing Refugee camps are ironically the safest

The problem I had with the blade and musclemass is that they were just too slow, and considering how quickly the hunter spammed attacks, and how many damn special agents there were, it always seemed best to either take them down afar with a whip, or just run around them slashing them up with the claws.
Although nothing is quite as fun as elbow dropping from the highest building onto the street using the musclemass. That was awesome.

see thing is, i actually thought the claws were rubbish, but that everything else was really useful. musclemass was great for the special agents, and is in my opinion the most rounded power. plus, if you were using musclemass, the damage cannonball did nearly doubled.

i've always been a hit-and-run kinda fighter in prototype, so the blade was also great: leap up, slam down with blade, run for it, use the triangle attack on the ground for a quick hit, run off again, rinse and repeat.the hammer power was also great for this kinda thing- the leap attack and the elbow slam were great against tanks and slow-moving enemies.

and the whip: fantastic crowd control, AND useful for reaching helicopters? god i love it. also, anyone think the armor power was any good? i thought it was a bit shit, to be honest.

I totally see something coming like, Mercer "cannot self-terminate" and creates someone who can take his place but is still human enough to lead the mutants peacefully. After an epic fight, there could even be some potential for drama (doubt it, though).

as someone else said, if the fight against alex is not DBZ epic, than neither will the game.
Meaning, 10 minutes of yelling, 1 minute of action, 10 minutes of yelling, etc?

I'm actually gonna be disappointed if the whole endgame objective is to fight Alex. I'm hoping the two of them have to work together to fight against Pariah or something.

I mean we all know from the first game that Mercer is a good guy.....if you ignore his devouring of people that is.

While it looks cool, I find myself less and less interested in the game with every trailer. Mercer leads the infected? and creates new kinds of infected? That doesn't sound even remotely like something he would do (IMO).

hey hey, stop being so excited. remember yahtzee's expectations creed? having high hopes for anything can only lead to disappointment. expecting nothing may lead to you being pleasantly surprised.

Oh god, I can not wait.
I loved the first one, even though quite a few people hated it and such.
I'm also somewhat disappointed you don't play as Mercer, but that's not such a big deal.

It looked more of the same from that trailer alone, that's not really a bad thing though. Prototype is probably my favourite superhero sandbox game, I still play it occasionally.

Also,

As stated by Radical Entertainment, Prototype 2 uses a new protagonist, Sergeant James Hellar, and takes place 14 months after the original. James had returned to the tattered New York City from the war in Afghanistan to find that his wife and daughter were dead due to Alex Mercer accidentally releasing the virus when questioning Elizabeth Greene. This damages Hellar emotionally, who then goes out on military's most dangerous missions, succeeding each time out of his rage, despite hoping to die. Unknown by Hellar, he is being watched by Alex Mercer who has taken an interest in him. Alex Mercer is now the ruler of New York City despite having become a ghost, only being seen on rare occasions. During one mission, Hellar succeeds in completing the mission but is mortally wounded and appears to be getting everything he wanted, but Alex Mercer shows up. Alex then infects him with the Blacklight Virus, turning Hellar into a creature like Alex. For unknown reasons, Alex is now spreading the virus despite previously trying to stop it. Hellar then goes on to tap into the Blacknet System to decide where to try and strike Alex, as he believes Alex to be behind the mutants (though it was actually Elizabeth Greene)

I'ma be disappointed if there is a huge build up and then boom, when they finally meet Alex is like "yo.. it isn't me brah" /rollcredits.

Well... that trailer was incredibly corny.

Embarressingly so. If someone had walked into the room while I was watching it I would have Alt-F4'd at the speed of light.

I have a feeling Prototype 2 will be kinda the same as the first one. It may even be set in the same city.

You know, I think this game is in a dilemma. If you can go around eating people for the lulz, casually smashing them in the heat of battle with no regret and the game is generally set up in such a way that you'd have to go far out of your way not to compete with Genghis Khan in death count, then the new protagonist won't be any more sympathethic then ol' Alex. But if these things are not true, then what the hell is wrong with these developers?

You mean supervillain?.
Superpower, I guess. The hero or villain aspect doesn't matter that much to what I was saying, it's just a sandbox game where you have superpowers, like Superman or Spiderman.

The title reminded me of this...

Anyway, trailer looks good, is this for 2012 or 2011?

I hope 2011 :(
