New Resident Evil Film's Plot Revealed

Brace yourself: The next Resident Evil flick will contain a "mind-blowing revelation."

Say what you want about the Resident Evil films, but <a href=http://boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=residentevil.htm>you can't argue that they don't make money. After <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-Afterlife-Milla-Jovovich/dp/B002ZG98UA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326225289&sr=8-1>Resident Evil: Afterlife (pictured here) grossed almost $300 million worldwide, it was no surprise that Sony announced it was making another sequel. Plot details have been leaked for a while by both star Milla Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson, but the official synopsis has just been released.

From the sound of things, Re5ident Evil: Retribution (side note: How do you pronounce that? "Re-Five-ident?") is going to be the biggest film to appear in the series so far:

The Umbrella Corporation's deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race's last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Anderson has also revealed that this next film will also include a number of fan-favorite characters and monsters like Ada Wong, Leon Kennedy, the Lickers, and "even a big action set piece directly based on one of the more famous ones from the original RE games."

Re5ident Evil: Retribution is going to be released in both 2D and 3D on September 14th. A teaser trailer for the film is expected to be attached to Underworld: Awakening, which is due out later this month.

When will they finally end this series? The entire thing has been like a terribly written fanfic, with Alice being the classic Mary Sue.

And than Alice was a zombie.

Now that would be an awesome twist. Here's to hoping that this is the last one cause I for one am sick of Hollywood not letting franchise go.

She is a zombie. They established in the first movie that she was infected with the T-virus. Hence, zombie.

"Even a big action set piece directly based on one of the more famous ones from the original RE games."

Translation to Resident Evil fans: "Hey look, we're going to take another event completely out of context and make you hate these films even more!"

I'm not even a Resident Evil fan but my breaking point for these movies was when they tried to pass off Toronto City Hall as a building in Raccoon City in the second movie. I mean, come on.

I was thinking along these lines.

Also - Who the hells cares about character development. See the above quote, just replace "plots" with "characters"

Why is this considered news? A sequel is bigger and more epic than the ones that came before it?

I would never have guessed.

Here's an idea for a twist: all five previous Resident Evil movies were all just TV shows in the Arkley Mansion!

Hey, cut them some slack! A Canadian Zombie Apocalypse would be awesome! Think about the setpieces they could use! The Air Canada Center filled with Zombies wearing Maple Leaf jerseys and hockey equipment.

Awesome, I love the movies, no matter how erratic the plot may be, but then again I was never really a resident evil fanboy. Can't wait for this one.

Oh, good. They're dragging Leon and Ada into this pile of crap now. Y'know if I really wanted this kind of thing, I'd just search fanfiction.net for some shitty Mary Sue alternate universe fiction.

Also, Re5ident Evil? Really? You couldn't just use the V in "Evil"? Are we all too stupid to get Roman numerals now?

I didn't mind the movies too much till the 4th one. I won't lie I liked the first two and three was okay. But four was just "Let's rip off the 5th game" Hopefully this ends the movie saga.

Eh...unlikely to be as bad as the last one. I liked the first 3, but 4...gleh.

I'm starting to think they're ripping the names for these movies from the Madness Combat series. Probably a lot of the cinematography, too, come to think of it. And yet those silly Flash videos are somehow still more entertaining.

Oh, if they did a Canadian zombie movie it would be amazing, but for Resident Evil it just causes me to be pulled out of the movie with thoughts of "They filmed in Toronto and Paul W.S. Anderson just pulled the Canadian version of putting the Empire State Building in Gotham City."

Sorry but all I got to say is why? No really, why? I mean why does this film franchise is still going? Why invest a film that will not make alot of profists at all? Why bother making a new one at all? (Ok that's enough of using why's.)
