Well, a new series of Scooby Doo started tonight called Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, and honestly it is the most horrid thing I've ever seen. Yeah, sure there are a ton of people out there that are just going to say that it was going to suck because it isn't the original, but this was just... wrong. I mean, What's New Scooby Doo was kinda good even though it really went away from the pot head jokes...

Basically, in the first episode, about half of the episode focused on Fred having an obsession with building traps and making them as pointlessly complicated as possible, Daphne having a secret crush on Fred yet he never realized it, and Velma and Shaggy having something between them but Shaggy is trying to hide it because he doesn't want Scooby to find out. They seemed to just take the characters and throw a mystery in to keep with the story, but the rest was just teenage high school drama bullshit. Oh, not to mention that Shaggy's voice is a lot different and just sounds wrong.

Anyone else see how horrible this was?

So they're taking the Scooby-Doo cast and twisting it around to fit the Twilight formula? Unfortunate, but unsurprising. Even Spider-Man is reportedly getting the treatment these days.

I never liked Scooby-Doo much in any incarnation, except possibly the Scooby Movies episodes guest starring either The Addams Family or The Harlem Globetrotters, so I guess I'm not qualified to comment on whether the new show is an improvement or not. It sounds like it isn't, though.

Really, who watches Scooby Doo anymore. To be honest I could only stand the movies, everything else was so boring. The mosters don't do anything besides chase you, and most to all plots range from this.

Gang ends up at location. "Supposed Monstrosity" seems to haunt place. Gang explores, traps creature, end.

I didn't watch it cause I got tired of cartoons, even scooby doo. But that sounds horrible. I mean, what have they done to Shaggy? He's not supposed to have a crush. He's supposed to be a loveable idiot who has a rather slim body considering his diet of eating everything in sight. Making him complex and human ruins him. Well, maybe not, but still sounds horrid.

Scooby-Doo started sucking a long time ago. Every iteration just got worse and worse. The crap-ton of movies they made ranged from bad to awful to just downright terrible. The WB series was God-awful. They now have this new thing that sucks too. Surprised. I'm not. Oh well, I cant really blame them if it gets good ratings can I?

Yes I can.

I'm sorry but that's not how Scooby Doo works.

1.) "Wrong thing happens", may or may not actually be illegal.
2.) Scooby Gang snoops around as a group.
3.) Monster of the week attacks.
4.) They escape, usually on accident. Discover a clue.
5.) If the group didn't split up during the chase, Fred will suggest it.*
6.) Velma, Scooby, and Shaggy search some.
7.) Jinkies! A clue!
8.) Zoinks! M-m-m-m-m-monster!
9.) If we're not down to Shag and Scoob by now, Velma will split up.
10.) Shaggy and Scoob discover food, eat it. Hilarity ensues.
11.) Zoinks! Monster again! Hijinks.
12.) Group manages to come back together.
13.) Set up an elaborate trap.
14.) Scoob and Shag will invariably screw the original trap, but wind up catching the villain anyway.
15.) The unmasking.
16.) "And I would've gotten away with it, too. If it weren't for those meddling kids."
*In lieu of this, Daphne may get kidnapped or trapped.

I loved Scooby Doo growing up. We had a Great Dane and I still enjoy the slapstick. Favorite episodes are probably Scooby Doo meets Don Knotts and the one with the crazy alien thing that made that had that crazy laugh ("Spooky Space Kook"). Favorite movie was probably Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers, even if it has The Scrappy.

The best way to ruin a series is to usually add some sort of a romantic sub-plot. The ones that really excel at this strategy replace the entire plot with just romantic bullshit.

For example, Dexter - Season 2 specifically; the first season kicked ass, while the second one was about Dexter's bullshit love triangle that I couldn't give a fuck about.
Well, if you aren't still following it, you might want to watch the next season because...

Major season four spoiler ahead!

Rita got killed in the last season

OT: I haven't watched Scooby Doo since What's New Scooby Doo, but chances are if they did add a bunch of pointless romantic subplots, it won't be very good.

I've always hated Scooby-Doo except for the Boo Brothers movie and even Scrappy wasn't annoying in that one as well as the one hour "movie" episodes. But when I first heard about the new show(at the time) What's new Scooby Doo, my dad was happy to see one of his favorite shows brought back. So we saw it together and once I heard the opening of What's New Scooby Doo...I left the room. My dad saw it and told me that "I hope they don't bring back the Jetsons or the Flintstones like that atrocious cartoon". So I saw it after muting the theme song and damn was it awful. Then movies, movies and movie awful movies were made and the TV live action movie was so bad...it wasn't funny. Don't they have a Shaggy and Scooby high school spin off or something? Either way, I won't bother checking out the new one. It looked/sounded bad from the start.

Maybe I should take my girlfriend's words with a grain of salt, she said the show was pretty good.

Then again, she loves Twilight. And Degrassi.

I saw the new season of scooby doo mystery incorperated's first episode. Needless to say that it was horrible. Don't get me wrong, I love scooby doo, but i was not impressed by how this was written. It revealed too much teen drama between the charcters. There was too much character development there, and honestly i was looking for an all out mystery. I could never guess what was coming back when the old shows would premier; although, this was kinda obvious. I recognize it was someone they found other than what I expected, but even Velma was mislead. There was always a certainty shared between the audience and the cast, there was actually a mystery, and it could be solved by either sided( being the cast or the audience.) Velma doesnt have a thing for shaggy, Fred doesnt fully disregard Daphne, and to top it all off, teens do not talk like that, or act like that! Are the audience members suppose to be ignorant to all these changes? Your screen writing has too many drastic changes, and needs to stick to what the older substance was. It's sad to say I was looking forward to this new season. I was disapointed.

I loved What's New.

Scooby-Doo was ruined for me when I spent a little too long browsing rule 34 sites, but that sounds like the icing on the cake unfortunately.

(To be honest though, I think the prequel straight-to-DVD live action film probably acted as the final nail in the coffin looong ago)
