Yes, this must be the most off-topic topic you have read this day, but I will ask it none the less.

I am searching for new shoes. I would like a pair of shoes who would not stand out while working in the office, so they have to be at least slightly fancy. No multitude of flamboyant colours and all. Yet they have to be good looking of course, or cool as you wish.

It would be awesome if I could take a sprint too occasionally with them. I have to run for the train sometimes, or I just like to jump onto or from a random height, so a bit of cushioning would go a long way. Full fledged running shoes are too much perhaps, but I do like comfortable shoes.

I'm looking for shoes I can buy soon, and considering I live in the Netherlands, if a new one just came out, you can be sure it'll take a few months before it reaches here.

Brands don't matter to much, but the office argument applies her, so perhaps some brands are out of the discussion.

I would greatly appreciate your input on this. Please post your favourite shoe that matches this criteria, and perhaps a description on it's best (and least) assets.

Edit: Perhaps it's wise to mention that I am male, and thus not interested in high heels :p

Merrells, lovely pair of shoes.

Price tag isn't low on them, but they are comfy and do the things you want them too.

Do you wear long pants? If so, I recommend a pair of John Fleuvog boots. The pair I have are calf-high but look and feel great.

Thanks for the input thus far, but would you (sorry user name taken and Labyrinth) mind posting a link, since I'm not exactly sure where and what I should be looking for.
Edit: Oh and I do wear long pants, though in the summer when I'm off work that might change (oh dear I do hope that will change, please let the weather be nice!).

I'd recommend that you take a gander at New Balance shoes, specifically the cross-trainers: link to available styles/colors [http://www.nbwebexpress.com/newbalanceMX622OD.htm].
While I prefer their running shoes and especially their tennis shoes, my parents swear by the cross trainers.
Plenty of sizes/widths, cushioned, comfy, sturdy, and still light enough to go for a jog in - perfect for your use.

Okay, New Balance fanboyism over. Sorry.

Vans? Either the slip-on ones or the lace-ups. I know Iron Maiden have some Eddie designs printed on Vans, they're pretty awesome. If you're into that kind of thing.
Yeah, Vans or DCs.
And listen to me, I'm female :p

What brand is that? I can nearly make out "Goki" but I'm not exactly sure about that.

They do seem comfortable enough, but I don't really like the model (which in my opinion could be fitting for a hike, but not especially for a 21 year old in the office, while still maintaining a slight resemblance of style and fashionability, no offence meant). I'll take a look at the site though perhaps there's more stuff to my liking.

Thanks for the link, but I have to say the first picture I saw a pink shoe with high heels. Perhaps I forgot to mention that my sex is male. I scanned the site a bit and couldn't find any shoes that fit my gender. Is this a women's brand?

I work in an office, not at a skate store ^^. Thanks for the input regardless, I do like the model of those kind of shoes, and I know they are quite comfortable, but they are not exactly fitting for the intended purpose.

Yeah I think Rocket are predominantly a Girls brand. I guessed as much hence the Merrells post...If I mention them enough times think they'll give me a free pair of shoes?

I honestly don't know where you'd find these. However, I do have a picture [http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s46/Labyrinth_11/BOOTS-1.jpg] of mine which should give you some idea...

that's what it says, If you can't find those in stores, look for shoes from the "jacks surfboards" company, they have some exactly the same.

(Starts singing) Hey, I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything's alright, I said yeah, I put some new shoes on and everybody's smiling it's, so inviting, I'm short on money and long on time, oh, slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine and I'm, running late but I don't need an excuse, cause I'm wearing my brand new shoes. (/singing)

Paolo Nuitini and 'New Shoes'. Best feel good song ever.

On topic, if you want new shoes I'd try comfy trainers (sneakers for Americans). In the UK (note I have no idea where the OP is from) we have a chain of cheap shoe stores called Shoezone, I bought a pair of brown comfy trainers/sneakers from there for about £10 (which is pretty good given they lasted for well over a year before I binned them last week when they started to fall apart). Worth it, definitely.

Those Merrells look kind off sweet I have to say. I checked but I'm afraid we don't have them in the Netherlands. Perhaps if I randomly check some shops I might encounter them. Good luck on getting those shoes, feel free to mention them as much as you like!

Hihi perhaps that might be a bit to kinky on my legs. Not exactly the desired effect, but hey if it would get me a promotion.. :D *starts shaving his legs*

New Balances are rather good.
I checked their site again, it seems they have a wide variety of shoes on sale, plus you can order on-line. I would prefer to try them on first though, I'm a bit hesitant to order clothing or footware online.

Lacost do seem nice when I come across them, I didn't try them on so I didn't know of the sporty properties. How is the quality of their shoes? Some fashionable shoes are of rather poor quality and wear and tear quite quickly.

I haven't had them for very long but they seem to be of good quality. I do not see any wear after a month of daily use. And there real leather not that plastic fake leather.
