New Silent Hill

Caution on my part for now, as Silent Hill is great, but sequels suck in general.
So, thoughts? Hopes? Burn it before it gets out of control?

I hope they continue in the direction that Climax went with Shattered Memories. That game was fantastic.

Eh... this topic came up a day or two ago, and I'm not really any less horrified by the prospect now than I was then.

At this point, I could care less what they do with the Silent Hill series. But it really burns my ass when a developer digs up an old corpse to defile.

As long as it gives me a semi-good horror experience, I'll be happy. Homecoming wasn't the best, but I'm not a Silent Hill fanboy, so a lot of the "complaints" about staying true to backstory, controlling someone who's not an average guy, etc, didn't matter to me.

Who knows, might be good, it's not like they said flat out that it's going to be a remake of Silent Hill 2. Besides, nothing's ever going to touch Silent Hill 2 so where's the threat?

No Akira Yamaoka = crap soundtrack.
No Team Silent = Not a true Silent Hill game.

Sure, Climax did alright with Origins and Shattered Memories, but the bar was way too high for their stubby arms to reach.

I love the SH games that don't revolve around silly cult shenanigans. I hope the next one falls under that category.

Well, that's slightly comforting at least (The Akira Yamaoka news). But I dunno 'bout these Varta games guys. It's just another version of Double Helix taking over the reigns (aka Fanboys paying homage to a beloved series by becoming part of it, but very sloppily, as they get pushed to release something 'meh' by Konami).
