Right, I for one am annoyed that the 1.2 patch for Skyrim fixed a few incidents on my console, but broke others (such as the resistances). Luckly, Bathesda haven't got their head in the sand and are *just* keeping on top of all the problems.

To keep my faith in them going, coincidently they've announced further patching plans with "incremental updates" as soon as early next week for PC & later in the week for console:
Here's the source from Bethblog [http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/12/01/skyrim-what-were-working-on/]

I suppose the developers are right when saying "there are no better testers than the public".

Also, there's news on the creation Kit and Steam stuff in there.

Enjoy.

EDIT: Finally got link working!

The integration with Steamworks sounds awesome, and much easier than hunting through forums or the Nexus for good mods. I've got the game on 360 at the moment, but I'll pick up the GotY version on PC when it's out, for the sake of mods.

Same, steamrolling as much of the game as a human possibly can, then when I've got a rig up for it & the GotY version is out I'll be modding that baby myself till kingdom come!

Great and all but man, Bethesda games are the only ones for whom I see a mass amount of people getting excited for patches that fix broken things. Acting so forgiving feels like it does nothing but encourage the practice.

No, I don't find game-breaking bugs "charming" the way I do cel-shading or a weird mistranslation.

Well, if they didn't patch them that would be a piss take; and a game of that scale with that many variables, it would take an oversized team of testers & the developers years to iron out all the bugs by themselves. I've spent 10+ hours ironing out bugs in small programs with few variables, only to discover more when I take it in to class as a final product. I respect how well they're dealing with the issues that are arising as I sure as hell would've given up at this point with a game so big.

If Gears of War 3 held a month alpha & a public beta, and still needed to release patches...
Or Battlefield 3... I think Bathesda are doing a great job so far. the only way they could get the game perfect is by releasing it, or just not release it at all & spend the next decade testing it until it becomes obsolete.

As long as they don't plan on charging us for the Creation Kit... Or nickle and dime us for the mods.

But now, I'm just pessimistic.

I was half expecting them to create a mod store where people could sell their mods (with Valve and Bethesda taking a cut of course)

I wouldn't mind paying 99cents for a good mod as long as the bulk of the money went to the author of the mod. Even they did impliment a store system, pleanty of people would still creat and release free mods.

There needs to be some accountablity through. If someone sells me a mod for $5 and it cripples the game, I should be able to return it and get a refund.

Good point. I think the reason I feel so flabbergasted about the bugs is because I honestly would have been fine if they had taken the time to perfect Oblivion's shaky foundation instead of just starting the cycle over in a new engine, removing from the meat and potatoes of the gameplay (quests, skills, classes and dungeons) and adding big automated things that are heavy on processing and, so far in my experience, have proven to be insignificant (example: Radiant Story)

It's a purely personal grievance and I need a programmer to put it all into perspective so I stop hatin', lol.

Yeah it does seems to have less "meat" to it but it flows well enough for what it is. While radiant story seems insignificant so far, it is there and the fact that you don't notice it is a good thing, that means it's working well. Although to be fair it's not as radiant as we, or Bathesda, initially hoped. They had to cut back on some of the "radiance" as that was creating x^ variables - now that would've been a heck of a lot more testing and bugs.

Google it and I'm sure you'll find a quote of them saying they're disappointed with themselves for having to cut back on radiant story, that they had announced the game, then realised they had to cut back or they weren't going to make the deadline.

They better come through on later next week.

The game is unplayable without magic resistance. I'm shelving it until "1.3".

...and thats leaving out other 5 bugs I've had since I installed 1.2.
