With the release of the last three Star War movies (which are actually the first three) I have to say my interest in Star Wars...died. I loved the original three, and watched them a lot growing up. I played with the action figures, played their video games, even watched the cartoons they have. But ever since I watched the third one, all interest evaporated. Don't get me wrong, I understand why people still love it. I also understand why some people hate it. To me, George Lucas seems to be getting lazier, the stories less well thought out. But then I saw this, and some glimmer of hope resumed.

I've read a few Star Wars books before, but never enjoyed them that much. But this, this looks awesome. Something even non-Star Wars fans could watch.

Then again, this might just be wishful thinking. What do you guys think?

(If my writings poor, I apologize. It's getting late, and I'm really tired. I'm just excited and wanted to ask people about this.)

Whoa, that looks really cool. It's funny, I was thinking of this same sort of thing a few days ago - Star Wars is very versatile. As demonstrated by the KOTOR series and some books and comics, it can handle all sorts of weighty themes that transcend the pulp action that the original movies have. I'll definitely keep an eye out for Deathtroopers.

Well...considering that its not written by George Lucas so it must be good!

(Ironic that the man that created the SW universe is the worst writer for it.(Soo you know A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back werent 100% written by Lucas.(which are the only good SW movies.)))

wow, a horrer novel in the star wars universe sounds pretty cool, but then again so does car surfing.

Hopefully it will be great, and scary, and George Lucas doesn't fuck with it.

I find the juxtaposition of an attempt at more mature storytelling with one of the most juvenile titles I've ever seen very amusing.

That is not so say that I will dismiss it outright. I read the novelization of Revenge of the Sith on a whim, and it is now one of my favorite science fiction novels. For some reason Anakin's fall actually makes sense the way this guy writes it, plus the light saber duel scenes are are joy to read.

I dunno, I'd say Return was pretty good too. Way, Way better than the New Trilogy (although I'll admit I didn't find the new trilogy as bad as other have). Well, one way or the other, this should be interesting.

Might be good. Still to this day the only star wars books I've enjoyed are the two Darth Bane books and I consider myself a huge star wars geek.

Seems interesting enough, but the horror element might put off younger viewers.

I maintain that if someone is going to do a series about the cannon fodder instead of the Jedi or their allies, it should be based on the Republic Commando [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Republic_Commando_series] series. I was never a huge fan of the prequel franchise, and in fact thought Clone Wars to be the worst of the bunch. This series, however, places the focus firmly on Omega Squad, a group of elite Clone Commandos, and their completely unqualified General, Jedi Apprentice Etain Tur-Mukan.
It really gets into the dynamics of the clones as a group of minorities, the principals of the mostly lost culture of Mandalore, the morals (or lack thereof) of the Old Jedi Order and the psychology behind war.

I have to admit, SW: FU was quite a bad story. I liked the orginal saga, the second one wasn't as good (i liked Phantom Menace then though), i think George is losing ideas, but i'll look out for Deathtroopers non the less, but with low expectations
