New Steam UI

There's a new steam user interface if you opt to try the beta. It's kinda neat, I was hoping they'd eventually update the look.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but it's cool looking so far.

Anyone else try it? Your feelings?

It's in settings, and on that very page, you opt for the new UI beta.

Or you could not be rude and take freakin' 5 seconds to look for yourself? It's a beta, it's not a mandatory download you have to go to your steam settings and opt for the beta. Why would I lie about a new interface?

I think it looks great. I like it so far. It'll take a bit to get used to though we've used that old UI for such a long time.

Damnit! I opted for the beta, and now Steam keeps crashing.

Go into your Settings, and you should see a section showing what betas you're participating in. There will be a little drop-down menu with the UI beta in it. Just choose that, and then restart Steam when prompted.

Unfortunately the new UI is bugged, at least for MW2 owners. It forces a re-download of the MW2 multiplayer. It automatically deletes the MW2 multiplayer if you install the new UI so don't do it unless you dont mind downloading MW2 all over again. I did and now Im rather angry.

I have to agree, I like the more modern design, and it kind of reminds me a bit of the Zune interface.

It looks better if you switch the different views for the game list.

The biggest issues with it is (besides MW2 redownload) is you get no community/store pages, but that's okay for me, because it saves money.

I'm in it now. It looks awesome, but there are bugs....MANY BUGS!!! Not to mention the whole Steam community issue that's going on right now, I tried to make a forum account to submit bug reports but it completely forgot that I exist as a user x.X. I'm sure Valve will get it working(this is a beta) and once they do it will be a lot more functional than the old UI.

I haven't been using the old UI long enough to be attached to it, so I think I'll try this one instead (it looks a lot more streamlined and easier to read, at least to me).

Yes, I'm sure this will garner all sorts of "hilarious" jokes from the MW2 hating crowd. Rather inconvenient for me though.

I'm not normally a fan of re-jigging UI's this much but i'll admit this one has me intrigued it's obviously not designed by the muppets who keep re-jigging the facebook layout.

There are some interface changes I'm sure everyone will suggest, but I can see parts of it catching on. I especially like the change in ingame interface. You can actually do things like watch YouTube videos with no lag.

I do kind of wish they would move further away from the use of a web browser to display things like the steam community and, I dunno, PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING. >=(
