Wow. I seriously didn't think I'd be interested in a movie about a superhero named "Thor" but this trailer really makes me want to see the movie.

That would be "Jötnar" or Frost/ice Giants, The funny thing with being Icelandic like Hardcore_gamer I have a different perspective on Thor(Þór). In Völuspá(The Entire story of the Norse Gods,Beginning to end) Shows Thor are as a raging drunk that goes to smash Frost Giants in the face for fun. So yeah... this movie will be interesting.

The only thing I particularly see as ominous is the omission of Donald Blake, which I suppose they traded for Thor's lack of dignity. The cup thing is hilarious, don't get me wrong, but it seems that they traded the serious movie for a action/comedy/drama/romance that really only worked in Spider-man.

And that was fine, for Spider-Man because Peter Parker was a nerd, and there's nothing the world likes more than to pick on nerds. But most of the other Marvel characters are actually rather serious, especially Thor, Hulk, and Captain America. So I'm sure Thor will do well, but fans will probably shun it like the Star Wars prequels.

I just cant see him being an Avenger, the other superheroes are grounded in science whilst Thor comes from an entirely different physical plane of existence!

I think they're playing the whole magic is advanced/incomprenhisible science and Asgardians are interdimensional visitors angle. They've often used that in the comics, though more recently they've played the god side up a lot more. They may take an ultimates approach where few people actually believe he's a real god too.
