You know what helps more than making threads that give trolls the attention they seek?
Reports.
If a mod isn't on at the moment, making threads complaining about trolls, and posting multiple times in their threads about how stupid they are won't help. If they are, they will see the reports and act accordingly.
Yay. A ninja! And a Bender avatar!

Okay, serious face. DO.NOT.FEED.THEM.. Do not even post in their thread. Just report it and PM the link to a mod
Actually if you delve into much psychology you would know that giving them a reaction is only the icing on the cake for them.

You see, being a troll is a deeper psychological problem than just instant gratification. They know, deep down in their tiny little acorn brain that even if we ignore them, they're getting to us.

Have you ever seen a younger sibling sit next to the older sibling and hold their finger half an inch away from their older siblings face saying "i'm not touching you!". Even if the older sibling completely ignores them. The younger sibling still knows its irritating and does it anyways.

So it doesn't really matter if we talk to them or not. They'll just keep doing it.

In other words. Trolls. Are solar powered.

It appears I have no choice.

I shall do it.....

I shall create A Sacred Order of Troll Slayers!
What fighting styles shall we adopt into our order?

De-railment? Witty Comments? Or the slow, yet certain "REPORT AND MOVE ON"?
De-railment and Witty Comments!

"Report and Move on" only aggravate the creatures.
Let the Knights of the Nine UNITE!
Uh... I was thinking just "The Order of the Troll Slayers"

So... If you're interested than heres the link.

note- the first several posts on this thread make no sense as the original topic was different. However, after realizing that it was "feeding the trolls" I changed it to this more appropriate topic. Please nobody respond to any of those posts.

I've noticed lately that the "news" doesn't really report much of importance. I don't know how it is in other countries, but here in America most of our media outlets report stories of little importance, or relate specific examples of things that happen all the time as if it is a new and unique incident.

One such example is this story: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/12/31/michigan.fatal.fire/index.html

I feel very sorry for all the victims of the fire, but deadly fires happen all the time. In the end, the casualty count wasn't exceedingly high. Today is in fact a good day for real news, with several important stories being listed on www.cnn.com alone. However, I usually see nothing but celebrity stories and other stories like the one listed above that aren't as much news as a sob story to boost ratings.

What do you think of this trend in media? Do you think it is a trend?

edit:

Everyone keeps talking about the old topic after I already changed it to avoid feeding trolls. In fact, people are still talking about how this thread feeds the trolls, when at this point you are the only one doing so by responding to old posts. Please discuss the new topic here.
Agreed in Chicago on the news SOMEONE is murdered daily. Sometimes 2-3 a day and they say EACH story like is something new and unexpected.... sad world we live in.
