Free to play?!?!?!

HOLY CRAP YES!

*Jumps up and down like a little girl...even though i'm a boy*

Now Escapists...Play this and role out!

EDIT: Just remembered, is it this?

If so i'm going to jump up and down even more....
you must never have played any Jagex games. Runescape is terrible. F2P games are notorious for selling items to players that impact the game in huge ways for real world money. No thanks. I'll pass.

I have played Runescape (years ago like) and you don't HAVE to buy them items, it's good if you do, but you are not forced to (or i never was)

Seriously, it's a free to play Transformers MMO what more could you want!!!!!!

That's the trick isn't it? "You don't HAVE to buy the items" but if you want to compete you do. Half the time the items are things that you really need, like bank account space, the ability to sell more than a handful of items at once etc. Sure, you don't need them but you're certainly hobbled by the lack of them. While these types of games make money they also turn off potential players.

Imagine if they applied this to a modern FPS/TPS game. What if something like jumping cost you five dollars. :D You don't NEED to jump but it certainly makes life easier if you can. :)

Well, Jagex really did do a good job with Runescape, sure I don't play it and never will but it's huge for a freakin' browser game. Glad they're the ones who take a Transformers MMO under their wings.

So we're pretty much stuck with the Michal Bay bots then? Will we ever see anything from the first generation again or are we stuck with all this because it's new and new is ALWAYS better just because it's new.

I miss the 80s.
Pfff, the 80's Transformers were basically painted boxes with more boxes attached to them, they're ripe for the trashcan. I'm adoring the detailed design of Industrial Light and Magic's (screw Bay, they're the stars) Transformers. At least they're proper robots. Though the lips and all on that old dude are pretty silly.

But that scene from the Transformers 3 trailer where those 2 cars crash into each other and change into a Transformer? Holy bawls that was awesome. 80's Transformers will never give us something like that.

Right, because even if some one preferred the older models shame on them for not loving the newer ones. I mean it's not like you could make awesome and highly detailed models of the older Generation 1 designs and update them yet still keep the same basic ascetics (which actually has been done many times). Also it's unthinkable to imagine that some one who prefers the older models would think that 2 cars crashing into each other than turning into robots would be cool (because clearly that archaist hates anything new and awesome).

I will say this. I've love both movies thus far but I'm still not a fan of the designs. I don't think we should just abandon the older designs as out dated anymore than we should ignore the newer designs. That's a very bad habit we have in America, where we get so focused on the new we abandon the old (case and point: Star Wars the Clone Wars and no more post Battle of Yavin movies or games).

And don't get me started on how CGI has contributed to the down fall of sci-fi and action movies by removing the need for a complex script and interesting characters and how it's lead to the practice of using mindless explosions as a crutch for poor writing and concept. Not all movies with good CGI are good movies and not all good movies lack good CGI but many bad movies have Amazing CGI and some bad movies even have bad CGI. CGI isn't inherently evil, but it can be used as an easy pass to cheaply and constantly appeal to the masses rather than (heaven forbid) applying effort and decent story telling to a movie.

I'm exited about the new movie and can't wait to see it, but I still don't like the designs very much.
