I need help.

I am buying a new tv for my room and have narrowed it down to 3 choices.

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-7343.aspx

<This Toshiba 37" Full HD
It has a contrast ratio of 18000:1, but is only 50hz. £478

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.205-2704.aspx

<This Technika 42" HD ready
It has a contrast ratio of 30000:1 and is 60hz £450

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-3767.aspx

<Panasonic 42" HD ready
It has a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and is 100hz £549

My basic question is should I sacrifice full hd for a higher contrast and flicker rate?
Any technical help is greatly appreciated.

If it absolutely HAS to be one of those three, go with the first one.

Go for 100 hz
If you put 50hz and 100hz TVs side by side you will notice a big difference in quality.

It depends on what you are using it for, gaming or just tv?

If its just tv then the second one will do since you are too engrossed in the movie (hopefully) to be noticing any quality difference. Plus most tvs that size and type produce good enough quality that you barely even notice anyway.

If its for gaming however, go with the third. Better quality, far better contrast so you can spot that sniper hiding in the bushes.

Don't get the fifty hertz one. I've tried playing NTSC/sixty hertz games on a fifty hertz-only machine; the picture was dreadful. Either flickering or black and white. So I'd say yes, sacrificing true high definition is worth it.

Go to a store, and see th three side-by-side. If you can't tell the difference between the cheaper one and the expensive one, get the cheaper one. However, panasonic makes really nice TVs.

It does not have to be one of these three, these are just the best i've found for their cost.

last one for sure. definitely not the middle one; ive never even heard of technika.
personally i'd buy from john lewis cos you get a free 5 year guarantee, although it usually costs an extra £100 to buy, most 5 year guatantees cost way more. of course you don't need a guarantee, its just wise

If you really want one of those three, imo you should get the last one.

I prefer DLP TVs, they seem to be way cheaper and although they are hard to find, I've heard very good things.

The sad thing is this is the smallest one I could find.
