You have to feel sorry for the poor playtester handed a buggy game built on a buggy engine by a different company.

My query is, can Obsidian really be expected to take the fall for what is essentially Bethesda's fuck-ups, or was it their responsibility to produce a polished game regardless of the source material?

Wellllllll.......yeah, if there are this many bugs it is off my Christmas list. And the company should always test the game before sending it to stores, they should have set the release date back a little so fix some.

I don't really see any game breaking bugs. I know a ton are present and when game first launched I was freezing and glitching like mad, but after the update patch I rarely come across anything horrendous aside from random stuck scorpions, and companions that turn into complete dumb asses and suddenly run off 1/2 a mile in 1 direction then run back, or NPC that sit in thin air instead of a chair. I know bugs pop up based on different variables, but for me as long as the story and quest don't get fcked up because of bugs, the graphical glitches are fine. Fallout 3 I couldn't even finish broken steel on goty ed because everything I walk toward the mission area the game always freezes on spot. I've not run into any real problems on any quest in this game yet.

OP: Considering Obsidians track record with buggy ass games, it immediately shines on them. While it is Bethesda bugged ass engines, it was Obsidians job to make it as polished as possible. I think the save corrupt bug is what really drew all the attention on them, I don't recall fallout 3 having any problems like that.

The game shipped with a bug that caused it to either wipe your saves completely, or cause them to revert back several hours. You can try to blame Bethesda for this, say it's their glitchy game engine and whatnot, but seriously, if that was the case, then where was the exorcist bug in Fallout 3? Where were the rampant complaints of the game not saving at all or wiping saves? It's Obsidian's fault here, they released the same quality of product that they always do. Look at KOTOR 2, awesome game, full of bugs, far from finished. Neverwinter Nights 2, broken, horrible UI, buggy. Sure with that one they released expansions that made it a hell of a lot better, but seriously, this is stuff that should already be done. It's like they don't playtest the games at all, or bother to try and polish them in the least. Don't get me wrong, I love their games, but every single one of them has been...well, like New Vegas.

No. Which makes the Obsidian bashing around this game so annoying, considering Bethesda wasn't bashed for doing the exact same thing.

There really aren't too many huge bugs, mostly only small glitches that you don't take much notice to."

Like a man's head gruesomely rotating being the first thing you see.
