hope they fix the clunky combat so i can actually play a witcher game for once
I hope so too, but I really doubt it.
If you watch the first 15 min it's still super awkward (well awful) roll/slash combat. So that's not fixed at all.

I, for one, hope they fix the stealth. I found Witcher 2's stealth missions unplayable because I kept sticking to things and being dragged into LOS no matter which direction I was trying to go. I'll wait to hear back from people who have played it methinks.
They already said there will be no stealth at all, and just what about that combat seem bad? What would you want to be to not be bad? I'm honestly asking here because I can't see how anyone can say that it looks awful.
Watch the part where he's fighting the ghouls. His "technique" consists of "swing wildly with sword then roll on ground like idiot". What isn't awful about that? I mean it's the same as it was in The Witcher 2, and that's not a compliment. I actually prefer the combat in the first game where you had different sword styles for different types of enemies. The first game felt more like controlling a skilled swordsman.

And there's this of course :)

Maybe because the player isn't very good, and is the one using the roll too excessively? Check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5pycqmx0ec It's a compilation of all the 2014 combat. Watch the whole video a lot of it is from the 35 min demo from other languages, you'd be surprised at how different the combat can look deepening on the play style of the player.

As a Dark Souls player, your comments about rolling make me want to grab a torch and a pitchfork.

As for the trailer, I don't preorder on principle. But as soon as the game is confirmed as in good working condition I'll hurl all my money at it.

That voice over is so out of place for this game setting, it is too jarring that i'm sure there must be a reason for it. Isn't she the tutorial narrator for Hitman Absolution? Why American GPS lady? And the pronouncement of 'erbs, i always thought that was a joke, not a thing that people seriously use.
Still getting the game regardless of wierd trailer voice over casting.

I reached straight for the ultra greatsword for a two handed wield to learnd this comment a lesson in clumsy striking and dodging. Hell, the witcher 2 had pretty forgiving dodge in comparison.

Todd Howard shit his entire office when this trailer came out. Janitorial services were required to use hazmat suits and a fire hose to clean up afterwards.

I'm not a fan of hype trains but I'd like to see Bethesda and BioWare even try to meet the bar CD Projekt Red is setting here much less raise it.

Holy cow, even racism? This game has everything!

I kind of snickered at that, but its nothing new, and its certainly nothing to brag about. Tolkien tackled fantasy xenophobia decades ago. Stop acting like its a new idea, fantasy writers. Medieval people were racists.
Yeah I laughed at that aswell. Racism themes in fantasy with fictional races is actually very common although the Witcher takes it a bit further than most.

So many commenting on the combat, but only from gameplay video's. i wont judge it until i sit down with the game myself and play it. ALSO there was a huge mod for the combat in Witcher 2. So stop complaining.. atleast if you had it on PC :p

That's a fair point and that video does show that the combat might be better than expected. You caught me complaining about an option that I could just avoid using instead of bitching about it. Damn it! I'm becoming what I hate the most! :)

Yep. Exactly, what you said. As a Witcher fan, I'll probably buy this no matter what the reviews say unless it reaches Aliens Colonial Marines levels of disappointment, but preordering really shouldn't be a thing and I refuse to support the practice. I'll happily pay full price for it after the reviews come out.
