The release of a new Xbox is still 2 or 3 years away. Some people are speculating that Microsoft will follow the lead of the Wii into motion sensitive territory. Others think that Microsoft will keep the same old controller and just add in a few minor tweaks. What do you think the future Xbox controller will look like, what features do you think it will have? What things would you like to see implemented into the controller?

I have yet to be impressed by true next gen motion control. The six-axis was a joke, so I hope M*soft learns from Sony's mistake and doesn't create a garbage motion control system. However, there is potential in that catagory.

In reality, I'd be happy with the current layout. I find it much better compared to the out-dated PS controller.

well if they put motion controls in their remote they will officially be the biggest ripper offers in the history of gaming. First the miis and if they do put motion controls in it what wouldn't they off ripped off
I would agree if they directly used the same technology as Nintendo, but motion sensing has been around for a while and the general use of it wouldn't be a ripoff.

I can imagine Microsoft trying to copy Nintendo, but they'd only make it worse than it already is. I can't stand the Six-axis or Wii-Mote either, so if it does change to that, I may have to stay with a 360.

It will simply be a helmet with the buttons mapped directly into your mind and require brain surgery that will be 10 times the cost of your 360. Also there will be constant updates that will occur randomly and for no apparent reason. On the bright side, the blinding headaches will wear off by the next console generation.

I like the 360 controller how it is. It fits your hands well, and all the buttons are in the right place.

The only big change I'd make would be to make the D-Pad a little smarter in recognising what direction is being pressed. Occasionally when using my hotkeys in Fallout 3 I noticed that diagonal presses can be recognised as horizontal and vertical ones. Doesn't happen much, but I'd still like to see it improved.

EDIT: Scrap motion control completely. I don't need to make real world swings for a game to be fun.

i think they shouldn't even bother changing it, the xbox 360 controller is fine the way it is, its perfect for shooters, and has a layout thats not confusing

Oh for the love of god no. The controller should for the most part be the same and definitely not follow into the bullshit DS steps of just renaming all the buttons and switching two that have been in their previous position since......I think forever for no fucking reason.

Changes the 360 controller would probably only be there for the purpose of change and would alienate gamers.

Quit yer whining. Remember when Sony announced the six axis? I do. What's with Sony's "House" thing, isn't that the same thing as the mii or the avatar? Let's just call Sony "The biggest ripper offers ever." By the way, motion control in gaming has totally sucked. Every single time. Six axis and the wii.

id call it bat.

I'd like a Matrix kind of way. You can just like, really go into the game world.

Although, motion sensing would suck. I would prefer a normal controller, as the basic shape of the Xbox360 controller is perfect, though the D-Pad could be changed.

I really do hope Microsoft stick with their controll scheme, and Sony with theres. One motion sensitive console is enough for me. Microsoft and Sony should just improve on what they have, as should nintendo (when I shake the controller up, I mean up, you dumb piece of shit)

And someone can put your finger in a glass of water while you're out.

They made 'mind control' devices for the computer world ages ago. They respond to muscle movements and certain wavelengths emitted from the brain. Maybe combine the two?

I don't really care. I'm gonna spend my millions on becoming the first cyborg.

Um, wrong, Motion sensitivity AND avatars have both been around long before the wii.

If M$ makes their next controller motion sensitive, I will not but it. Nothing kills immersion like having to make an unintuitive swashbuckling motion to get your character to open a door or something.

On the other hand, I wasn't planning on buying the next xbox anyway, so I don't really care. You lost my trust this round, M$.

Motion sensitive controllers are just gimmicks. I'd be fine if they released the exact same controller again.

I think the controller is fine as it is. It's tried and tested; don't fix what ain't broken!

I hope it'll be plugged directly into your brain. I'd love to see what happens when you get a red ring of death then. Great television, for sure! :p

I hope things will go a bit like this:
Nintendo will innovate some more, because they've proven to be good at it, and we're expecting it from them.
Sony will have to bring some new ideas too, because the 'we'll make a bigger, stronger box than the rest' isn't working out very well. I don't think the big guys at the Sony Corporation like a risky branch.
So that probably leaves a space for a traditional gaming console, and Microsoft. And I don't see the Cole Train wiggling a wiimote going 'pew, pew'.
