So what's your new years revolution for gaming?

What games will you play?
What games will you give up?
Have you finally given in to the evil achievement addiction or given it up?

Well, I can't wait for Mass Effect 2, and i've stopped playing modern warfare 2, I don't want to play play play and prestige, dammit I have university work to do. :p
And achievements, yes... i'm still a whore. :(

Go back and actually finish Far Cry 2 and Mass Effect.

Mass Effect made my Xbox Red-ring, so I'm a little annoyed at it.

To get another console. I have to decide between a PS3 or a Wii, choices choices. Apart from that play more games.

Well, there are still quite a few games that came out last year which I have yet to play, so I'll be getting those at some point, more specifically Dragon Age and Borderlands. I can't wait till Bioshock 2 comes out, but other than that there aren't really any games coming out this year that I care that much about. I also plan on getting more trophies..... lots and lots of trophies, because they're just so damn awesome.

Finish FF12, finally. For once I am going to sit down and just beat the damn thing. It's just so huge, I go away for a few days and sooner or later I just forget about it. Curse you, you sexually confronting protagonist, I will finish your tale of sigh-filled dialogue and inevitable three-phase final boss yet!

This I swear, as my new years Gameolution!

Play MW2 more. I have to share my xbox between a younger brother who does nothing but play halo 3 forge, and an older brother who is back from uni and has no games of his own, but instead whores out on our games. Whenever I get a free moment when nobody is playing it, I always get drawn to AC2 instead, even if I went with the intention of going online on modern warfare 2.

I'm working on Dragon Age right now and I'm going to finish that first, which is likely to take a while considering how huge the game is. What do I actually want to play this year? There's a few things on the top of my head, but just for the sake of keeping up my habit of having unnecessarily large posts and because I've been wanting to do a large scale accounting, here is EVERY game, divvied up into categories, playable on the 360 (according to Wikipedia) that has piqued my interest in some way.

Each and every one of these I would be willing to risk money on to play, some I would buy brand spanking new on release day at full price, others I'd get off the $20 bargain rack at Sprawl Mart, some would only be worth the '3 used games for $15!' sale at yon local pawn shop, but money spent nonetheless.

---

What? I might play any of these this year and certainly would like to, thus answering the question posed by the opening post.

---

Games that are either out now or coming out soon that I'm probably going to buy and play as soon as they come out or I can afford them (ranked in probable order of purchase):

Mass Effect 2
Borderlands
Left 4 Dead 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Assassins Creed 2
Far Cry 2
Fable II
Gears of War 2
Dead Rising 2
Bioshock 2

---

New or older games I might buy if I can find them on the bargain rack (or used):

Gun
Halo Wars
Bully
Battlefield: Bad Company
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Brutal Legend
Fuel
Grand Theft Auto IV
Halo 3: ODST
Overlord
Overlord II
Prototype
Quake 4
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Saints Row
Saints Row 2
Section 8
Shadowrun
The Simpsons Game
Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Tom Clancy's EndWar
Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X
Too Human
Unreal Tournament 3
Wolfenstein
I know some of these games are still fairly new and thus relatively high priced, but I'm not going to buy them until they drop in price. This may or may not take awhile but I am nothing if not patient. A couple of them are pure novelty buys such as Fuel, which I am tempted to buy just to see how big the game-world in it really is. The rest are things that are most definitely on the bargain rack or in the pawn shop now, but I haven't bothered to buy them yet either because I haven't had the time or there were other things I wanted to play first.

---

Games I already own but shamefully have not finished:

Deus Ex: Invisible War
Destroy All Humans!
Fable
Jade Empire
Beautiful Katamari
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
Mirror's Edge

---

Long term outlook, games not near release that have caught my eye:

Aliens vs. Predator
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Dead Space 2
Deus Ex 3
Earth No More
Fable III
Fallout: New Vegas
Halo: Reach
Lost Planet 2
Rage
Red Dead Redemption
Two Worlds: The Temptation (Well, I played the first one. Might as well see if the second one will be as bad.)
Some of these games either don't have a release date or are explicitly not going to be released this year. I don't feel bad putting them on the 2010 list because I'm going to be keeping track of them all year and if they put out a demo I'll certainly play that.

---

Having just spent the better part of an hour putting this list together I must say:

I feel a bit better about the current state of gaming, there's a vast number of titles out I'd be willing to play and my not-so-in-depth scan of games that are currently in the works shows a number of promising titles on the horizon.

---

In response to question two, I don't usually get addicted to games so there's nothing I need to really 'give up' at the time. The one major exception is when a game with an exceptional story hooks me and I'll play it almost every chance I get until I beat it.

In that case, as mention above Dragon Age is what currently has it's claws in me and such will be the case until I beat it.

---

Finally, I do sometimes go out of my way to get achievements just for giggles, but only if their relatively easy to get or don't require multiplayer.

For example, I'm probably NEVER going to get the Dead Rising 'Zombie Genocider' or Time Shifts 'Very Gracious' achievements. Either it would be a time consuming ***** to get them, or I don't play online enough to make getting them likely.

As much as I hate to admit it, Two Worlds is the only game I've gotten every achievement for. They were all things that you'd get just playing and beating the game and the few you had to go out of the way for jived with my compulsion to explore every scrap of the game world.
