... Also, Why is Max even here, he got his ending at the end of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (regardless of which ending one got), he finished his quest and finally made peace with the world and his own internal deamons. This game reeks of blatant profiteering with no regard for the fanbase or story.

My Max is done, I won't be buying.
Yes. All the loose ends from Max Payne 1 were tied up and every character but Max had been shot in the face, blown up and/or thrown off a building. Thats sorta why I don't mind a partway switch to a new locale. In any case, it'll have a hard time living up to MP2.

I will miss having an arsenal in my jacket.
In Max Payne 2: grenades, molotovs, berettas x2, desert eagles x2, sawn off, pump shotgun, striker, mac10 x2, mp5, ak47, m4 and a sniper rifle,... all in a leather jacket.

People whine too much about the New York setting, as though you cannot set a hardboiled story in a sunny country (ever seen Casablanca or The Lady From Shanghai?). I thought the black and white, overwritten monologues/similies, and attrocious accents were old by the second game and I'm glad for the change.

And I like the idea of a bearded, fat hero. That makes a nice change too.
