I'll probably get this. I love Zelda. Plus it will get all the dust off my Wii that only gets used when my little cousin comes over.

I'm sorry to say I don't have much hope. Nintendo makes their games good so that's something to look forward to, but also looking at their recent history, I'm betting the new Zelda game will have something to do with casual audiences or exercise. Maybe we'll have to sword dance with the wii mote this time instead of just wagging it around like a madman.

I like how many people say that it's the same old thing over and over again. There is more new stuff in each game of the series that it's surprising people call it repetitive. Oh sure, you normally use the same equipment, and the characters are similar, but the core gameplay mechanics normally change enough to make it feel new. For example, playing Wind Waker had me using a Gamecube controller in the traditional way. Then on Twilight Princess I had to move my arms to swing the sword. And on Phantom Hourglass I had to use the stylus to do everything.

While we're on the subject of samey, didn't Half-life 2 steal it's atmosphere of oppression from any Orwellian novel ever written? And then there's any of the WW2 shooters that have been milking the same setting for almost 2 decades now. Worst of all, theres the fantasy games that, as Yahtzee said, use the same races and templates that everyone else uses.

I can only hope that it is maybe radically different. I would like to see a new villain and some new playthings for once.

I hope it's not too different. I do like the Zelda series.

What would be really great would be a compelling storyline. I hear about Majora's Mask and that sounded like some crazy, awesome stuff.

Twilight Princess was pretty standard Zelda. Wind Waker had a cool theme and I loved sailing the high seas.

Link... THE RAPIST!

Sorry, but it's late and it made me chuckle.

Maybe it'll just throw in some RPG elements.

I've got it! In the next game, Link will be right-handed*!

And yes, I'm aware that he was right-handed in the Wii version of Twilight Princess, but that was because it was a port from the GameCube in which they mirrored the entire game to produce this effect, so really he's still a leftie, you're just seeing it backwards.

Seriously though, I'd be happy with some updates, so long as it has the "realistic" Link. I hate Toon Link so much... [small]*grumble*[/small]

Go-Karts, hahahaha. I hope not. Although, I do hope they 'surprise' us with a game that feels more like ocarina or majora's mask. There might be a game like that released recently, but I haven't seen it yet. And release it on a console... playing zelda on a handheld just isn't the same.

I think Miyamoto and Aonuma contradict each other so you can't tell who to believe, making it a surprise either way. Skillful marketing.

It would be interesting to have it star Ganon as a teen, starting out in the desert area as a prince annoying the women folk trying to uncover as much power as he can before finding info about the tri force in hyrule so he makes his way there, the power he gains the bigger he grows, prehaps have a older link stereotype play the randomly encountered hero then you end the game with him finished off ala Links uncel in ALTP and Ganon in control of the region, so the next game after it can be a remake of ALTP or something like it.
=======================

Zelda is boreishingly formulaic soemtiems its just to much, it needs more cumizaabilty and ways to get partially into palces that take a full new power to get to. Like bing able to go to an old bomb maker pay 1-4 grand in parts and be able to carry 1 bomb with no bag or nothing to a place, the bomb plants where cute they could work as well having some instant grow seeds that might give you 1 or 2 bombs out of 5 shrubs, bombs are a 1 in 10 chance to show, bomb plant seed a 1 in 10 to show then ruppes and what not could be generated as well.

Open up the sand box a bit more, like let you use the hookshot on any wood object and other things to make it more fun to explore instead of a strict path that offers alot of back tracking....

I really doubt the next game will be new and original, you stick to Zelda you're gonna get the same old mstuff no matter what.
You're not going to get the same old stuff, you're going to get similar core mechanics, with similar basic themes, but the games are different.

The thing I see is, that all of the people who complain about the Zelda series, tend to be people who don't even like the series.

And the problem with that is that Nintendo doesn't (and shouldn't) care what they think, they care what the fans think, and because the fans are so damned vocal about what they like and don't like, Nintendo tend not to change a huge deal if the public don't like it.

Aww yeah! Legend of Zelda Rail Shooter!
But I do have faith in Nintendo's game making abilities. And they can't do worse than Wind Waker...
Case in point.

Maybe Link will be a black man, trying to make it in a harsh white world.

With some gore thrown in for good measure.

and ganondorf is a pony.

A MAN CAN DREAM
FUCKING. GENIUS.

What's your account details and address so I can forward the funding and strippers for the next Zelda title? We're gonna be rich Fred. Rich.

Either they need to compare notes as they talk to press, or this is an elaborate plan to keep us guessing.
