Newell: Valve would disintegrate before being sold off

I like to think that if EA did buy Valve, it would be like Disney buying Pixar, and Valve would end up in charge. I still don't want that to happen, though, 250 people or so is a good size for Valve.

Except these days EA is anything but well-intentioned, and is more interested in Rockefeller-style buying out other companies simply to create a monopoly that serves them best, rather than allowing their parts to remain autonomous. (no matter how profitable they may be on their own). To them it's not about preserving what makes Valve good, it's about taming Valve and making sure they can still get money out of them, but are not a threat to their bureaucracy. Or at least, that's what I've gathered from what they've done to their previous acquisitions that were very profitable before EA got ahold of them and now either don't exist or simply aren't the same anymore.

Op you should be ashamed. Repeating something doesn't make it true.

And perhaps you should explain that all GamaSutra "faked" was the words "I'd rather" on Gabe's quote, which doesn't really change the meaning of what he said anyway. You should also be ashamed for letting links speak for you rather than explaining it outright. It's rather insulting to have to pick through Reddit to get the full picture.

I don't see what the problem is. EA comes along says "here is cash, give ownership", any company they say it to says No way you poorly managed, evil conglomerate" and EA gradually fades away by pissing off everyone who gives it money.

There is nothing to force anyone to be bought by EA.

No, I just don't have a panic attack about journalistic integrity and say "THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE JOURNALISM" when it's a bloody bored guy trying to be informative.

That you apparently didn't read either. Just felt the need to echo what was false information. If you are going to link a source have the integrity to read it?

I read and linked to two articles. At the time, I presumed that Gamesutra had done its own research elsewhere in addition, so I chose the title that would likely garner more views. I did not intend to deceive, nor did I realise that a mistake was made.
