Terrible idea, I don't want to watch my shows disjointed. It's better to have everything packed together than stupidly spread out so you can't remember anything. Doctor Who-less months aren't a big deal because you aren't aware they are Doctor Who-less. But if there was one episode every month then you would be very aware of the time you didn't have.

I think Tennant's sideburns is why I have a man-crush on him.

But in all seriousness, both have great unique aspects, and I like them both as The Doctor. Although, Matt has a cooler sonic screwdriver.
I'm really not sure on this. I'm actually beginning to go off Tennant as a Who because it seemed like his whole persona was "Whhooooo! Whaaaay! Oh I'm really sad now."

When he was allowed to act, he was fantastic; when he wasn't, it just felt like he was preening.

just wana through this out there. The split could work very well because it could show the end of amy pound as a companion and bring in brenda song. If thats what happens i wont mind it so much:)

Twice the amount of a BBC series...but not even HALF of an US series =(

Sigh, when will the bbc actually catch up to american tv series sizes?

What is he smoking? I don't care if most bbc shows are 5-6 episodes a season, 13 episodes BARELY makes for a season. Not ever having 20 episodes is pretty in-excusable as far as I'm concerned.
Because here, in the UK, we don't have the money to throw around for 20+ episode series. We've always had 6-12 episode series over here, and we're more than used to it, and also means that one series never outstays it's welcome, so everything on TV is fresh.

Just because it's shorter than most US series means nothing, when any Doctor Who series I care to remember blows pretty much every US series out of the water for pure quality.
If the BBC got off its lazy ass and got some advertising on their stations they would have the money to do it. So thats no excuse.
Yeah, then every ten minutes we'd have an advert break. I can sacrifice a few episodes for having nice, long, uninterupted sequences in the episodes we do get.

On topic: On the one hand, Doctor Who spread more evenly throughout the year is a good thing. On the other, lots of build up might be harder to do.

BUt this isn't something I'm massively outraged over, or really excited about. Nice to know how things will be next year though.

Oh, New Who and its "Earth-shattering climaxes". They just keep getting more and more ridiculously over the top. "Oh my God, the Daleks are back!" "Oh my God, it's the Master!" "Oh my God, Davros wants to destroy all of existence!" "Oh God, the Time Lords have returned!" They'll be scraping the bottom of the barrel pretty soon. By series 10 the Earth-shattering villain will be the giant clam that tried to eat Harry in Genesis of the Daleks.

Does anyone actually watch Doctor Who since Mr Tennant left? I haven't met anyone in person who actually likes the new series'.

The OLD Doctor Who stories were just like that, they'd have one story told over six to twelve episodes, maybe even more.
some were only 2 or 4 eps, and i think the longest was 15 eps. having said that, back then they had much more eps anyway, in the late 60's and 70's at least the show was on for most of the year

Cool that means I'll be able to take a break from Matt Smiths terrible acting then.
It could be worse. The actor could have been toby mcguire.... *cring*

Well that's nice to hear but I only watch Doctor Who during the summer so it doesn't matter much for me.

Why does everyone hate Moffet? Usually the same people quote the episodes he wrote as the best ones and then slag him off for what he has done to the series! He is a genius, much much better than R.T.D who brought homoerotica to the series and almost entirely destroyed UNIT!

He needs to write some more Sherlocks and also fingers crossed a spin off about UNIT, they are after all one of my favorite bits of the side plots of Dr Who. Something to wipe the horror that was Torchwood from the collective consciousness of Whovians everywhere!

I also know a LOT of people who love Matt Smith. Quite a few that rate him over Tennant. And Fez's are definitely cool. ;)

Can they please just fire that fuckwit Moffat. He already turned the previous season into absolute shit. Let him go work on something he actually is semi good at like Sherlock. But leave Dr Who alone you friggin hack!
While I respect that you have your own opinion, is there anything you can actually put forward solidly in your attack? This is the guy who wrote Blink, rated as THE BEST episode of the new series.

And The Empty Child...

Fez's ARE cool, you are correct sir.

He is my favorite doctor as he is the one that got me into doctor who (I have now seen all the new episodes and am watching ALL the old ones)

I don't see why people hate specific doctors, because I feel they all bring something unique to the show. Christopher Eccleston was more serious and baddass, David Tennant was clever and funny, and Matt Smith was just silly and also very funny.

I'd gladly take ads every 10 mins in exchange for a 25 episode season.
Why have so many episodes? It's fucking useless. You have 25 episodes in which 15, at least, are pointless filler and only 10 are good. The result? You have 15 episodes that are meh-crap.

BSG lost it's edge when the network decided to add more extra episodes. Season 1 of BSG is just excellent. Season 2 starts good, loses steam and picks up back again. If you cut the middle episodes all you lose is the boring episodes! The rest is history. More episodes, just means more filler. More filler just means, more wasted time. Even if the season is 13 episodes in which 5 are crap, at least it feels like you wasted less time watching them.

Here a list of excellent American TV shows that only have 13 episodes:
The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Rescue Me, The Shield, Deadwood, Dexter, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

These are some of the best shows made in the last 10 years. All with 13 episodes.(Some with 10) I think most shows would benefit with hacking 10 episodes and have much shorter seasons. It would also save money to bet on other shows, or keep really awesome shows from being cancelled.(Arrested Development?)
