Speaking of which, is the PS3 backwards compatible? I don't remember. Because that's a generation that I missed out on too. :p
The old 60 GB and 20 GB models of the PS3 are backwards compatible with the PS2, they took it out for the newer models. You could always go online and purchase one of those models since I think they go for around $250 or so. Also, the PS3 uses a removable 2.5" HDD so you can replace it with any laptop HDD or SSD you choose, as long as you copy the OS to the new hard drive, but there are millions of videos and tutorials on how to do it. It's really worth it as my friend still has his and it works like a charm. Plus they have adapters that allow you to use your Memory Cards on the PS3 or use Dualshock 2 controllers for the games.
Huh. Interesting. I'll look into that. Thanks mate! :D

When looking at exclusives, seems to me the XB1 is ahead. But then thats just game preference really. Like if you love GT instead of Forza, then that in itself judges what console you will buy regardless of your opinion of the consoles.

The launch titles are not that exciting enough to warrant paying out for a new console. Im waiting till next year, maybe after E3 when we see what both consoles have planned game wise.

I bought a PS4 launch night and am immensely enjoying it. Killzone is fun, if not a bit uninspired, and Resogun alone is worth the purchase for me. The upgraded version of Assassins Creed is very nice, and Warframe is fun as hell, but my PC still destroys the PS4 versions.

Not the best launch, but i also do not regret it for one moment.

Eh, everyone keeps going on about the exclusives. I've been Battlefield 4 mostly and I'm loving it (when the game doesn't piss itself and die). FFXIV:ARR is coming in the spring and I believe I get an upgrade to that edition for free because I own the PS3 version. My Wii U sees a little use every now and again, but the last week has been all PS4 and Vita.

Genuine Disinterest.

I watched Video Games Awesome for both PS4 and Xbone release all the way through over the last week. Resogun was the highlight of the PS3 while Ryse was the highlight of Xbone for me. However, nothing about these consoles really 'feel' next gen. They both scream glorified PC's and offer all the inconveniences of a PC experience to boot.

The WiiU is my current choice of the next gen console. It's bringing creative ideas to gaming be they good or bad and it presents some excellent local co-op experiences.

Video Games Awesome said it themselves that the launch of this next generation of consoles really emphasizes how great a time it is to buy ANY of the last gen consoles right now. The amount of BS to deal with is less (even though they were big problems at the time) and the experiences are just as good.

Given that I've not had a hands on with any of these systems my views on the matter are hardly final. Consoles to me are straight up gaming devices. It's all I use them for and it's all that's important to me. As exclusive games come out I'm sure my interest will increase. Probably to the point where I may end up owning 1 or 2 of them by generations end.

And this is a good view to have on it.

Current gen is looking to be the start of some very ugly standard practices such as $50 dollar microtransactions (one car) in a $60 game (forza 5) which means they will mess with the progression to make you "grind" to earn the same content you used to get with your initial purchase.

I think this is the best way to sum up how wrong things are and will continue to go in the console market.

1998: press these 4 buttons (cheatcode) to unlock a cool car. 2013: press these 4 buttons (credit card PIN) to unlock a cool car.

The fact that many of the games (MS 1st party, GT6) are riddled with microtransactions puts me off next gen gaming nearly altogether.

Although I was planning to get a WiiU before a PS4, this past week has reinforced this plan. Also I still want to enjoy all the PS3 exclusives so it'll be a long time before I go next gen. (sod playing PS3 games on the PS4 using cloud, they're pissing on my leg saying it's 100% lag free)

OFC a must play game that's next gen exclusive might make me jump sooner, but atm I REALLY doubt that will happen.

I'm holding out as long as possible because I don't want a subscription service. If it wasn't for Armored Core games being only on consoles, I'd go to PC. At any rate, I'm sort of happy the launch lineup for the PS4 has been shit.
