So, post your predictions on what you reckon will happen when the big three put out their consoles for the next generation of gaming. We're only talking about consoles here, how well they're going to sell, what sort of hardware they'll have and if they're actually going to come out. Since we know a lot about the Wii U's hardware, price and such already predict on how Nintendo is going to do in terms of overall sales, games and features etc.
Here's mine:
Sony: In my eyes, I see the PS4 coming out very late into the next-gen cycle (2-3 years after the Wii U and the nextbox come out), having quite a big upgrade in terms of hardware but being massively overpriced with proprietary everything. I really don't see it doing very well, seeing how the Vita is going and how much of a big financial hit making any sort of new next-gen console will have on Sony. As for games, I reckon it'll have a shit launch with maybe an Uncharted game or something, but it'll get quite a few really good exclusives down the line. I predict maybe one or two new IP's, which will most likely be shooters, sports games or mini-game collections.
Microsoft: I also think the Nextbox will have a much higher price than the Wii U, with not much of an upgrade but still a decent one. It will most likely focus much more in the Kinect, and still have subscription based everything and ads literally covering the whole console. As for games... Halo 7, Gears of War: Fun Time with the Lancer 6 and Forza: We Added In More Kinect Support Edition. I really don't see them making any new IP's that aren't shooters, well none that aren't crap anyway.
Nintendo: Since we know a lot about the Wii U already, I'm just going to talk about future sales and games. Saleswise I think the Wii U will of course go massively above the rest, it'll most likely still print money if Nintendo advertises it right, but it won't print money as fast as the Wii did. I don't actually see it having the same fate as the Wii, because really graphics aren't going to get much better than say, Metro 2033 high settings on PC for the next generation, mainly due to the economy and cost. So I think the Wii U will still be able to get all the good multiplatform titles, and I think the pro controller and the traditional buttons of the gamepad further my point.
So, what are your thoughts on how the big 3 will fare next generation?
