These days we get next-gen WW2 games(Battlefield 1943,wolfenstein,etc.)and games that would be real if we were at war with Russia.(MF2,Bad company 2,etc.),but wheres the next Vietnam game?Sure, these war games are great, but I'd love to see more than another war with Russia.Battlefield Vietnam was okay, and shellshock was freaking awesome, but i could use that new game smell.(sniff)aaaaaaahhhhhh.

Well the reason Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, and Call Of Duty World At War didn't do so well is because not many people like fighting in jungles or guerrilla warfare.

You raise a good point, I myself would love to see more games about tough American militants fighting in jungles against rag-tag mercenaries

But in all seriousness I reckon we'll be fighting our way through virtual Vietnamese jungles fairly soon and personally I relish that, but wasn't there a rumour floating about concerning a Call of Duty set in 'Nam?

true but id like to see more guerrilla warfare games on the market or at least see games that ease in to it and get the player interested in it not one's that throw you in and out of it

They can try, but as with CoD WaW, the multiplayer is going to suffer if they implement an upgrade system for the weapons.

The next CoD (CoD: Black Ops) could be set anywhere at the moment. It's rumoured to be send you to all different times and locations, so keep your fingers crossed for 'Nam.

Hmmm... if they set Far Cry 3 in 'Nam? Now THAT would be awesome. Only if you could side with the VC though.

Bahh I'm so sick of war games, I've played way too many and regardless of where or what timeframe they are set they all try to be realistic and end up doing very similar things and feel and look very very alike. The only exceptional war games have been those set in a fictional time allowing for more creativity with game concepts.

On topic though, you might want to try out Vietcong. It's not current gen, it came out around 2003 or 2004... but its a game set in Vietnam, and I seem to remember it being pretty decent and immersive when it came out. Not sure how well it will have aged in terms of Gameplay because I haven't played it since then... Obviously the graphics will be pretty basic.

If the Conflict Series gets itself back in shape they could easily make a sequel to Conflict:Vietnam, That was good vietnam game.

That's the rumor that's been floating around for ages. Be interesting if it's true. However, to avoid any sort of controversy, they should show both sides of the war, otherwise there'll be a lot of people calling US bias.

Guys..... Guys......

Call of Duty 7... Aka Call of Duty: Black Ops

Quote From Wikipedia

The seventh main installment of the series was leaked as being in production when David Kim, a senior animator at Treyarch, stated on a website "I am currently on my second title as a senior animator in the games industry with Activision / Treyarch on Call of Duty 7."[16] The game is rumored to be set during the Vietnam War[17] with missions including the 1980's sieging of the Iranian Embassy[18]. Activision later confirmed that developer Treyarch was working on the next Call of Duty installment, set for release in Autumn of 2010.[19] Numerous "undisclosed sources at Activision" have spoken of the game as being called 'Call of Duty: Black Ops'.

And a civil war game would be

wait for it..... wait for it.... AWESOME!

Signs point it will be like COD2 where the you jump all over the place from north-africa 1940, Stalingrad 1942, back to 1941 africa, jump froward to Kursk then Normandy then back again. Only instead of jumping all over the Second World War, it will be jumping all over the Cold War.

So that means not just Vietnam but Korea, Central America, Afghanistan.

Who knows, Treyarch might just have the balls to try an alternative universe where the Cold War does go hot and the nukes do fly, then it turns all Red Dawn and end of the world. Like the nuke level of COD4 only the entire world.
