Currently FPS, what game genre do you think will be "hot" in the years (decades) to come? My money would be on RPGs due to integration of certain elements already in games.

[sup]Not actual action adventure. I'm talking about games that call themselves RPG when they aren't.[/sup]
Don't see why not, though it would obviously be very difficult.Eico said:Would an MMORTS be possible?IBlackKiteI said:For now? MMORPG's.
A few years from now? MMO-something elses.
FPS games have been hot since Doom. If you're talking about "current", I think we've just seen the rhythm genre Konami created come to an end as a hot game type. More current is the Zombie Genre. Anything with zombies sells, so we'd be looking at what comes next.LesCorbeaux said:Currently FPS, what game genre do you think will be "hot" in the years (decades) to come? Evony sort of claims to fill that genre, I disagree since it's all about waiting and has the action of Civ 1 at best. I don't see why one couldn't take the ongoing war model in Mag or Chrome Hounds expand on it a bit and make it RTS.Eico said:Would an MMORTS be possible?IBlackKiteI said:For now? MMORPG's.

In fairness, Borderlands is basically Diablo with guns.Nautical Honors Society said:I think he is talking more along the lines of Borderlands.mireko said:Diablo?Keepitclean said:Examples?Eico said:The bastard child of the RPG that likes to go by it' daddy's name - the action adventure with loot.
