I'm a displaced Packers fan, myself. I'm more of a sucker for baseball, but I'd go so far to say that I follow sports more closely than I do video games. It is possible to be a total nerd when it comes to sports, you know. As for the draft: Bradford is going first, Suh is going second, and McCoy is going third. No wiggle room -- that's what's going down. Not really sure what the point of discussion is here, but I saw a Packers fan, and naturally, I had to respond.

I'm a Saints fan, so it really doesn't matter to me who we pick cause WE WON THE WHOLE DANG THING BABY!

But seriously we need to replace either Grant or Fujita.

NO.
There are not.
And, as such,
IRRELEVANT.

Why do people fucking care about corporate "sports"?
It's not for the love of the game, it's for the love of money.

Money is the monster that can no longer be controlled by it's creator.
Try telling that to Brett Farve. You think he played 19 FUCKING SEASONS for money? Of Fucking course not. He truly loves what he does for a job just as every other professional sports player.

People care about "Corporate sports" because we enjoy watching them maybe?

Ok let me test your sport nerdom...

1. Do you know what VORP is?

2. Which college team did jerry Rice play for?

3. Does Bo know?

Dont you dare google it son!
1. no

2. it was a D-2 school. can't think of which one though.

3. bo knows
1. Value Over Replacement Player - I don't know how to calculate it, but there's one for pitchers and one for hitters. Basically, it's how much better a player performed for the team than an "average" player they could get from the talent market.

2. Mississippii Valley State

3. Bo don't know Diddley.

So, are you joking, or just bashing the sport or people that may like it in this thread? I would love to hear the reasoning.

Anyways, anyone else doing fantasy this year? I would like a user group for that, as this is my first money year. Any tips would be appreciated, beyond CJ, AP, yada yada...

OT: I don't know. I'm a Steelers fan. We'll probably suck because chubbo the rapey quarterback will be gone for 2-4 games. We also decided to lash out and trade off our best receiver. We basically need to replace our entire defensive secondary, and we still haven't replaced Alan Faneca since we let him to go the Jets. So... OG in the first round? I don't know.

Thats just fluffys way...

I almost joined my office league this year...but i opted for MLB fantasy instead. First year too, not going so well. Group would be awesome, we could have a pick em game when the season starts.
Draft is coming up soon, how about an Escapist league on ESPN or something? Not for money obviously, but a ten man league or a couple of them could be great!

VORP does stand for value over replacement player, as you guys say, but WAR is definitely the more popular stat -- and the more useful one, too. FIP, BABIP... all of that good stuff. How am I supposed to win my fantasy league without them? I will admit that I didn't know what college Rice attended (I was going to guess Rice University. Go Figure. Do they even have a football team?), but I'm definitely a mega baseball nerd. Mozilla is telling me that Fangraphs is one of my most visited websites, so I'd say that is a pretty strong indicator of me being a nerd.

Also, Bo knows.

Missourian, I take it?
He won't make it past my Lions if he doesn't go first overall! (Though I'd love to see him go to the Chiefs - gotta give token support to the new local team.)

If this does happen, count me in.

I'm an NFL fan... go, Colts! As long as nothing happens to Peyton, I'm happy.
That picture, my friend, made my evening. Props to you.

BTW, I'm a Vikings fan, and we should definitely draft our QB for the future for that inevitable time when Brett Favre will actually retire. What with all the praising him in the media like he's Jesus when he was with the Packers and having to sit through it every time they played the Vikes, I was more than pleased from Day 1 when he joined us... only to then have the media turn on him like he was Satan. Well, he shut them up real fast!!! Sadly, the one big mistake he made in the entire season cost us the Super Bowl. We could have been the Saints, if only that one play could have turned out better. But, that's Viking fandom and has been throughout Vikings history: getting so close to winning it all, only to fall short at the last hurdle. With that said, Favre will be back this year, I'm quite certain of it, but as I said, we need to take a QB now to build for that season when he won't return, which could be as soon as the 2011-12 season.

Dan LeFevour. That's who you guys need. Especially since 4 will stick around for who knows how long, that'll give him plenty of time to prepare.
