NFS: Shift question (Frustration -_-)

Ok, so I got NFS: shift for Christmas today - long story short, I love it, but I can't get rid of that racing line thing. I set the difficulty to experienced, which it said would rid me of it, but it hasn't, anyone know how to get rid of it? It really annoys me having it there.

There's a green racing line it gives you to follow, it turns red when you have to brake etc.

I am pretty sure you can turn it off on the options menu, I never did though, I am not good enough at racing games to play without them. Also don't try to turn it off from the options menu on the pause screen, you have to go to the main menu and then go to options.
