I've heard a lot of people declaring how terrible Nickelback is, and I never got it. I enjoy their music. They're certainly not the best ever, but I find it good enough to listen to once in a while.

Some people simply call them unoriginal, which I see, but it doesn't make them bad. There are plenty of unoriginal bands that are considered much better than Nickelback.

I suppose their genre is another main complaint, that they have a type of rock that a lot of people simply hate to death. My response to that is: Hate the genre, not the band. Some people may not like what Nickelback does, but I'll say this much about it: They do it well. They've got a good singer, the rest of the band is certainly competent enough to play their songs well, their songs generally have decent lyrics, and I simply can't see where all this hate comes from.

So, could someone explain all this hate to me? Because I simply don't get it.

I used to not like Nickelback at all with the exception of a few songs, but then Dark Horse came out and I saw them live, gotta say I like em now. I really have no idea why i didn't like them before, I just didn't.

I hate Nickelback, because to me, they sound terrible. That's pretty much it. Boring lyrics, dull musicianship, bad production, and general blandness.

But then again, that's just my opinion. I have mine, you have yours.
Apparently you do have my opinion. Woo.

I don't like the band, and Chad really pisses me off. There is something about his voice that fills me with violent rage.

I don't hate Nickelback. Sure, a lot of the songs are repetitive, but if you don't listen to them often, a song here or there isn't all that bad.

I think that's a common phenomenon, once you see a band live you'd often have a better opinion of them, cause you've seen them as people not just in what media makes them out to be. That's a theory of mine anyways. It's up for debate.

I liked Silver Side Up and The Long Road when I was younger, don't really bother with them these days. I always thought they did themselves no favours with the singles they chose to release which were usually insipid dad-rock wank whereas some of the album tracks were pretty good.

They're just nothing special, I wouldn't pay for an album these days, but I also wouldn't turn it off if one of their songs came on the radio or whatever.

Funny that everyone seems to hate them and yet they're ridiculously famous. Hypocrites.

I heard that they got it because Chad used to get a nickle back at a store they liked or something.

Nickle back.... Nickelback...

The retards can't fucking spell nickle.

Just because you don't like something a lot of other people don't does make you a hypocrite. It just goes to show how there's a lot of different opinions around music these days.

OT: I'm very meh about them. Don't like 'em, don't vigorously despise them, but I won't be buying any of their music any time soon.

Because they suck.

It's that simple.

They have horrible music, can't write a song for shit and they're just a bunch of douchebags.

How is it hypocritical to hate a famous band? What, because they are famous we automatically give them all our money?

I love Nickelback, I don't think they're particularily talented or prolific. They are fun, loud and fast. and they've got this whole American Dream thing down.

Also the lyrics to "something in your mouth" are pants-on-head-retardley awesome.

For me, it was because in Britain, a sofa company (I think it might have been DFS) used "Rockstar" in their adverts. After hearing a song you didn't like to begin with being played ad nauseum throughout the day will annoy you after a while.
