Nicknames

I tried to get "Stabby" (after a fictional Scottish character I created, Stabby McPhearson), but it didn't catch on for some reason.

I never really had a nickname in high school, but in elementary school the babysitter called me "Beans" (because I hate beans), one of my brothers "T-Bone" (because his name is Todd) or "Flabby" (because he's skinny) and the other brother "Zacharias" (his name is Zach).

Nicknaming is a time honored tradition at my school, and I was branded with the moniker "Stalin". This was because my first name is Joe and I once had the gall (this is a rather conservative area) to say that Communists aren't inherently evil, they just want to give a lot of power to the government, which usually ends up abusing it.

Another kid at my school has tons of nicknames, (his name is Chris) Gristles[sup]1[/sup], Christopher (emphasizing the christ), Christ, Gristopher[sup]2[/sup].

[sup]1[/sup]He mis pronounced Gris, or gray, in french and the teacher said, "Gristles?" really loudly, as if confirming that's what he said. The kid responded as if she had said his name, and voila! New name.
