The other day a thought occured to me, it is actually pretty odd that more people play online games way late at night rather than say, 6 PM. Why is this so? I have noticed this recently as a big l4d2 gamer and back when i played WoW, and it kind of strikes me as odd. I understand many people have jobs, go to school, ect., but it seems silly that of my 50 something steam friends, at about 7 maybe 6 of them are online, and at 2 AM about 20 of them are on. Is there some rule that games are more fun if the sun isn't out that everyone forgot to tell me about, or is it really just because of jobs? I wouldnt think so since most jobs dont go until midnight!

I don't know about online gamers, mainly because I don't game online, but over the next few months I'll be doing the bulk of my singleplayer gaming between 10 PM (when I get home from school---here's to evening classes!) and about 4 in the morning (bedtime).

Steam reports its peak usage at about 11 AM Pacific time (2 in the afternoon on the US East Coast, early evening in Europe, wee hours the following day in the Far East.) Make of this what you will.

Don't have to work/ go to school, and there's no screen glare from the sun during night.

So, nighttime is like Video game primetime.

It's when all the 10 year olds go to sleep. Perfect time to go to game.

I have such a problem with this. No matter how much I try I always seems to end up gaming at night from about 12 until about 6. More or less. Though I do enjoy time to myself and it seems to be the only chance I get. Maybe that's the reason for most people?

Well, I work during the day between 11am and 11:30pm, so I get home by 00:00 (midnight) and game until 4am, and, oh look, it's 4:30am in the UK right now. Going to sleep, night all! ^^

For me, the best time to game online is at night, because it's nice and quiet, and there's no glare from the sun.

Plus my family's asleep (I need to move out asafp -_-) so they don't disturb me.

What's all this jibba-jabba about "glare from the sun"? Do your windows not have blinds or shades?

When I'm gaming in daytime, this room is barely brighter than it is in the dead of the night. Hooray for really good blinds.

I work nights, so when I'm off and not spending time with my GF, I will game at night. Otherwise, if I game during the day, it's after I get home in the morning and not later than noon.

No, they don't. Can't afford decent enough ones to make it worthwhile, and my housemate's always leaving the ones I do have open anyway.

Use a blanket, it may scream poor but it does it's job.

I like nighttime because that's when no one bothers me. My family is asleep, I don't have to worry about working or going to school in a few hours and I can just relax and play with no interruptions.

I like it in the morning. Wake up, make coffee and breakfast, get back in bed, turn on the game and relax for a bit before starting the day. Though night gaming is pretty common for me too, if I don't have plans.

All the good gamers comes out at night, so I try to keep myself to them. Otherwise, I am stuck with retarded noob shits that always seem to be on at daytime exclusively.

Pick any game on-line. You know this to be true.

Probably something to do with having real-life obligations to take care of before indulging in hobbies?
